“Clunk” sound when turning right (Possibly Tie Rods)

Hey people. I have noticed a “clunk” noise when I turn right, as if it were my tie rods. I have about 105K miles on my car.

I am going to change the inner and outers tie rods on both sides, but just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has experienced this same problem.

Anyone???

Have you checked them to see if there is play? Another possibility is one of the upper or lower ball joints.

I jacked up the car the other day and noticed a slight play on the tire. Not sure if it was enough to make such noise, but I figure I'd change all four of them since I have a lot of mileage on the car. I also noticed the tire wear on the right front tire does not look normal. Eating up the inside and outside of the tire.

My ride height and suspension is completely stock, so I do not think it is just "regular" camber wear.

When I do buy the new tire rods, should I go with OEM rods, or will Advance Auto Parts "parts" suffice?

I am not a fan of after-market parts, but not sure if there is a big difference with tie rods. What do you think?

I tried to find the parts on several Acura Online parts stores, but have not been able to find them. Not sure how much they run for at the dealer.

Before wasting money on things you dont need have it inspected by someone if you cant determine if its bad.

Look under PS Gear Box

What type of play did you notice in your wheel? If it's vertical play (top and bottom wiggle), then that would suggest ball joint. If it's horizontal play (like turning left and right), that suggests the tie rod ends.

your not going to get ware on both the inside and out side of the tire unless it's not inflatted correctly.

It will either ware out one side or the other not both unless there is a lot wrong like bad camber setting and bad tie rod. If the tie rod is bad the inside will ware unless toe is off a country mile to start with.

But have it checked out by someone that knows what's going on and how to determind if the parts are bad.

also tie rods and ball joints usually don't make any noise but wheel bearings, strut plates, brakes and worn out bushings do.

Could be wheel bearings. I could move my tire back and forth, but I could also hear a noise while driving. I just finished putting new wheel bearings, upper a-arms with ball joints & lower ball joints in my knuckles on my car. The one bad wheel bearing chewed up my spindle so I had to replace one spindle also.
