i think it happened a while ago when i took the bumper off to install the rear lip. i broke both sides

really stupid and costly move by me i admit. it didn't flap for like 3 months. but then the other clips started to loosen and it wasn't holding the sides of the bumper in place. next month i'll buy a new bumper and the wings west rear lip.

also, wheels and tires get mounted tomorrow afternoon!

FUCK. My transmission is leaking fluid

Garaged my car over the weekend, moved it this morning and tiny little puddles of tranny fluid on the floor. Haven't seen where exactly it's leaking from but I know for sure it is tranny fluid. I'm hoping it's just a bad axle seal or something. Cleaned the floor, parked the car in the garage again for an hour and then moved it. Same thing. Little drops of fluid. I checked the level and it doesn't look like it is even close to low. So I think it's just a slow leak. Got an appt. with Acura on Wednesday.

I'm at 123K miles and the car is nearing ten years old. Also has the blue bolt on the transmission. Does that mean it was replaced? Or that an oil jet kit was installed?

blue bolts means it was changed at the dealer at some point, the oil jet kit, no idea, i know there is a way to tell from the fill plug on top of the trans, but don't remember

Hm, so if the transmission was changed by the dealer at some point, the seals should not be as old as I feared. I guess I'll try and get under the car tomorrow and see if I can see where the fluid is leaking from.

Also the fluid was a dark brownish red. I got the car at 97k and have not done a tranny service when the car was in my possession.

Can old/dirty tranny fluid cause a leak?

Update: not tranny failure!

It does however have to do with my little collision with a curb back in december. The half shaft had broken splines causing the axle to wiggle prematurely wearing out the seal between the passenger side axle and the transmission, causing a leak.

450 bucks to fix but its good to know it wasn't something more serious.

Update

After much beerliberation last night...

as well as some inspiration from 02actlean's build, I decided while still hung over this morning to rip off the plasti-dip, install the new rear bumper and wings west rear lip. In addition, my mom said she is sick of seeing my car in pieces and all different colors so she has agreed to give me a loan to get some parts pro-painted. Only NBP though. Fine with me.

drunken fun...the red bar on the roof doesn't look bad if your going with a theme, but the mirrors everything i see i think you bought a set and haven't painted them, try dipping only a section of the mirrors, like a stripe along the factory line of the mirror

I'm going to take the red off the triangles but keep it on the actual mirror to see how it looks.

Along with the major exterior makeover, I have been slowly and quietly giving the interior a makeover as well.

4x 6.5" Kicker 2-way in doors
2x 6x9 Kicker 3-way in rear deck
2x 1" Sony Tweeter in sail panels
2x MTX 10" Subs in ported box
Hifonics Zeus 2000W 4-channel amp
Hifonics Brutus 1500W Mono amp
Pioneer AVH-3400BH head unit (with Brake bypass)
Magellan 7" portable navi (held on with velcro so it is removable)

Some other interior updates...

Carpet:

Trunk: gotta hide and protect the subs and amps

And finally just another shot of the exterior with the new rear bumper, WW rear lip, red plasti-dip calipers, visors, and real CF pillars:

I got seat frames on the way. Leaning towards Cipher Auto racing seats. Heard great things about them and they are reasonably priced. Not looking to track the car. Just want some more aggressive seats that actually hold me in on onramps and such (I'm very thin, size 30 waist). Even the Type S seats are really lacking.

These are the ones I like best. Simple design, clean look.

Also, car goes into the body shop tomorrow

Nice progress man! Cars looking good. Think it'll look much better without the red mirrors though. And let me know if you want to sell those type s seats once you get the new ones. I'll gladly take them off your hands haha. Keep up the work

Well actually Greyhound is quoting me about 85 bucks per seat from Queens, NY to Sacramento which isn't TOO bad. Dunno what UPS or FedEx would charge.

yup. and because the stock seats dont support me and weigh 60lbs each. I weighed these today. 25lbs each without a frame. frame is only another 5lbs so 30lbs each. 60lb weight loss is worth it to me.
