Hey Tann@808, did you do the door handle trim replacement yourself, or a shop? Also, did you/they have to remove or relocate any rods (that open the doors) because of the locks not being used?

Let us know how it works....thanks!

Looks great!! Nice job! How much does it cost to change over the handles...is the purpose of doing that to loose the key hole?!

Tann@808 told me that he had to buy all the hardware, handles and trim for $160. Then remove the lock and rods, and use a relay to override the existing one to lock all 4 doors at the same time. Pretty intense project...better have a Helm manual or a good custom shop do the job.

I know you can get a set of Monaco's 18x7 w/ tires for under 2k's (In Hawaii) so I would think that you guys could get it cheaper. Good luck and I wanna see some pics when you get them!!

Hey, do those Monako wheels rub? The offset is 43 right? I though people in these forums say don't go lower than 45, otherwise they'll rub??

[i]Yes my Monaco's are 43 offset. I just finished working on my rear bumper(rolling the fenders as well as cutting more of the plastic pieces off) and FINALLY there is NO rubbing!!

Hey Tann@808
Did you roll the fenderwells yourself? Can you explain exactly how to do it? I haven't actually seen it done but I heard that they use a baseball bat and roll the car. Sounds pretty scary to me. I would worry about the fender pushing out! Anyway, if you can please explain the procedure in detail. Thanks

I did it at my cousins shop. We used a tool that looked like a pipe with a soft plastic cover around it (kind of like a skateboard wheel material). I'm not sure if he made this tool or they actually make a tool for this purpose. Anyway, I used a wood bat on my last car BMW(make sure it's wood!!!!)

You'll need:
A two ton jack with wheels that can roll.
A wood bat.
And two people.

These instructions are for a dropped car, if the car is not dropped no need for the jack. You can skip step number (2)&(4) Just angle the bat so that it touches the fender.

1 First person sits in the car.

2 Second person jacks up the back of the car with the jack until the bat can fit between the fender (where you want to roll) and the tire.

3 slowly lower the jack until the fender starts to roll inward. (go very slow)

4 Make sure that the wheels of the jack are straight.

5 Tell the person in the car to go back and forth letting the weight of the car roll the fenders for you. Watch the jack so that it's sturdy. (You must go very slow)

If your not 100% sure on how to do this, I recommend that you take it to a shop. Or I'm sure people on this forum has other ways of rolling fenders!! Good Luck

Tann@108
Thanks for you response. I just lowered my car and the clearance seems awfully close. I've had three people in the car and it hasn't hit... yet! But I'm still concerned. Rolling sounds scary with lots of chances for error! I know I can make cuts on the lip and bend them up but then you gotta worry about rust. Anyway, thanks again.

Question

I have a 2000 Acura TL
I currenty have the Koenig's 18x7.5 w/ 225 40 18 tires. Do you think it will be okay if I put the Comptech springs on. Do you think there will be any rubbing. I noticed that you have 45 series tires and you still got the Comptech springs. Can you please help me out?

alanakusa, slick and Amai
Thanks for the comments!!!
Amai,
Do you know the offset of those rims? The rims in my pics are 19x8 43offset ACE monaco
with 235/35/19 Nitto 555's. When I was running these rims, the back (rolled fenders) didn't rub but the front rubbed on extremely hard cornering.

I am now running 19x7.5 44offset Racing Hart C-5's with 225/35/19 Nitto 555's. No Problems, No Rubbing!!!

If your offset is between 43-50, I don't think you should have any problems with running the CompTech Springs.

Goodluck and post some pics when your finished!!!

Question

Thank you for answering my question. Except I had one stupid question now. How do I find out what my offset is? Sorry about that. Thanks

That's not a stupid question.
There might be a sticker inside of the rim or it may be stamped in the inside. It should look something like this:
17x7.5 +43 5x114.3
the +43 is the offset.
Do you know the exact model of the rim you have? I can check on it for you.

23's now huh? tight!! But damn, too rich for my blood.

TL has small wheel wells, 19's look perfect. Was thinknig about 20's, but didn't want to roll on 20 series tires, adn you ahve to get a 245 width.
