Switchbacks and bumper mesh

Finally got switchbacks to go with my 6000k low beams. Looks dope in the blacked out housing.

But the real work went into switching up the lower bumper.

I intend on getting a cai soon, and I had the thought that opening up the lower bumper on the drivers side would improve air slow directly to the filter. But only doing one side would look awkward so I did both!

All I did was cut the face of that black plastic from the back of the bumper cover, then cut a slit along the two outer edges to slide the mesh into.

Now the mesh in the grill doesn't look so out of place!

Anyone know if this has been done before?

I'm sure I'm not the first, these cars are 17 yrs old, but I haven't been able to find any pics.

Looks good!
1st thing I did was get switchbacks for my ride too. If only I can figure out a solution for our DRL/high beams.
I want to do the mesh in the grill too, leaves me a few options if I try fog lights.

Thanks man!
The grill mod was worth doing for me because I know my car isn't in perfect oem condition, and I personally think it looks better than stock.
I know a lot of forum members would not agree, think it's cheap, etc, but to each their own

I am curious though if anyone knows if putting the mesh in the lower bumper has been done before.
I know it's been done with the grill plenty of times, but I've never seen any pics of the mesh in the bumper cover.

????

Not sure if anyone has done it yet, but that's what I want to do.

Word, go for it! It was not difficult at all, just grab a dremel and some sand paper to tidy up the cuts and you're set.

Got the mesh in my fog light holes now, I mocked up the mesh for the middle too but didn't want to cut that much plastic away. Decided against it, this may change tho. Lol

Switchbacks are leds/halogen bulb replacements that have 2 colors. My parking lights are white, & my turn indicator are amber when activated.

haha ya, I considered that too, but just a lot of work.
Glad to hear there's at least two 2g TLs rocking the full mesh look!

Stupid question. But could you use the switchbacks with the oem housing or would it be better to get a blacked out clear housing?

Switchbacks are only amber when you're turning, or have the hazards on.
I'm not driving today, I can snap pix later if you need.

JD920 the only mod you would have to do is either replace the signal flasher under the dash with one specifically for LEDs or install resistors for each LED bulb. I went with the flasher because I did a full LED conversion of the entire car, and they're pretty cheap.

James Kahn eBay link below. Proper white // flash amber // off // white action which looks like a modern car, and super bright so still safe.
