Thanks, it is true. I've been asked by the cops to have the tint removed once. My buddy got fined $115 for his and they left a note on the comp saying that the next time he gets pulled over, it must be off.
It's a fine line, be prepared to pay the price.

looks like we have the same color/car...so this should give you some good ideas.. 18% is perfect for me.. dark enough to give you shade even in sunlight but not the "blacked out" look..

Shittt thats darkk... I got 18% all around n i got trouble sometimes driving at night with no lights out. How da hell do drive at night with 2% all around?? dats juz crazzy but love the look. Im doing a custom tint on my back windshield 2 layers of 5% tint I wonder how blacked out thats gonna look??

 

damn, 2% looks like a bit much, at least for me... might as well spraypaint the windows black!

 

Yea it was hard to get used to at first, and 2 layers of 5 will b a lil darker than 2.

Getting my car done today, 35% all around except the windshield... i know, i know it's only 35%, but it will be about 30% transmission once it's on the windows, and i live in PA, where i'm only supposed to have 70%... lame. anyways i'm really only going for the cooler temp inside and a bit of privacy. my tl is a nbp, wish i lived somewhere else so i could get limo tint all the way around! i bet it would look sick. I'll post up what it looks like when i'm done today

 

I have 15% and its perfect. If you cant get 15, then go with the 20%. It'll look straight and still allow you to see good.

its ok cus i got the hid top and the fogs but my girlfriend cant see imma take it off put 20% on windshield! i love it tho!

 

I had 20% on my front sides and rear windows and got pulled over twice in one week, right after having it done.

You might have more luck with 35%, but just about everyone I knew got busted sooner or later. If you see a cop, roll them windows down!

anyways here a shot from the outside... the windshield isn't tinted so i guess look for that difference between that and the driver side window.



here's another one from inside... you can see the difference here. it's not really that dark... but depends on the look you want.



i'm guessing it looks okay to cops, because i was pulled over for speeding near halfway between pittsburgh and philly and the officer didn't say anything about my tints. i did roll down both front windows before he walked up to be safe though! ymmv though.

 

i had 5% all around and 35% on windshield for about 1 1/2 and didnt get shit with cops till last month which they nailed me with 3 in one month not so pretty with $115 each i riding clean ass fuhh now no tints i hate it so much i cant even pick my nose anymore!!! im getting 15% all around and try 35% in front lets see if they fuhh with me n e more hope not

Anybody have pictures of a Gold TL with tint?

Also, with a 15% tint would someone be able to see into the car beyond a silhouette? I have a Parchment (tan) color interior if that makes a difference.
