LED tailights revision 2 completed

Thankfully my parts (new tailight and amber superfluxs) arrive a day before the show and shine at Woodbine so I could finally complete them. I took some pics after I got home from the show. I'm totally drained. I was up until 5am and then got up at 8am to get ready for the show.
Anyways...enough babbling...you want to see pics! I called it revision 2 for this mod as I didnt like the outcome of the original amber leds....too small of viewing angle which caused it to wash out in daylight. Well good news is the new amber superfluxes I installed worked like a charm.
I also decided to redo the front led signals as well with these superflux's, so I included pics as well.

Hey OntarioTL,

It was nice meeting you at the woodbine meet.

Guys let me tell you, it looks awesome in person! The LEDs were bright even on a sunny afternoon. Nice job on the tails and headlights!

Looks awesome! I hear LED sytems light up about 1/6 second quicker when you brake too. that could save you from getting rear-ended some day, who knows...looks great.

Yea I remember reading that on a Infiniti advertisement in an airplane magazine because now all of their cars come stock with LED tails.

Looks great. I'd like to try it but I'm afraid I would butcher the plastic and it would look like a 5 year old did it. Good job.

When you look at the tails and move around the rear of the car does it look like specific lines of leds get brighter as you move? Not sure if that makes any sense

Also- please post up some night pics when you get a chance

You're talking about viewing angle right...so if you look at it from the top of the led its bright but you look from an angle it seems dimmer? Well for these LEDs I have they are 120 degree so even from an angle the dim affect is minimal. Put it this way, when I stop at a traffic light and I'm parallel with building with big windows, I can see the brake lights on from the reflection on the window. So if I can see the lights from the side of the car.....
With running lights on, if you stand directly behind the car...both tails look even brightness...but of course if you move to one side the closest tail will look brighter (see the 6th pic down from this post to see what I mean).

I will eventually take night pics......

whats it really matter as ppl dont really need to c you braking from the side anyway only time they would be stopped on the side of u is at a light or something all other times that it would matter the car is most likely either right behind you or off just a few degrees like around a corner or something but the light can be seen no matter what.

even oem applications dont really have side reflections most the time u just see the light being activated.

but whatever

Sometimes the brake lights of the car adjacent to me will cue me that something is up that I don't see. If a car is not directly in front of me that has some crappy led brake kit, you can hardly see that they are lighting up. Seen some that you would think that the brake lights are the running lights. Sure, the most important thing is bright, but I am all about being seen from anywhere if i brake.

I agree, where did you buy it or how did you make it?

I think I read somewhere about a guy buying a black housing off eBay and then buying a Honda Accord black housing headlight with projectors in it. He then did a cut and paste job and wah-la.

Buy anyways, I'm feeling the tail lights. It sure beats sticking in replacement led bulbs.

And yeah, you should have some night pictures so people can truly appreciate your work.

I'm very picky when it comes to mods....if it didnt look right on my car....I wouldnt put it on. I made 2 revisions to the turn signals alone, but I was lucky that the brakes turned out fine. Those pics are with the running lights...I'll take pics of running lights at night and then brake lights at night as well.

The ultimate test was driving on the 401 (Ontarioians will know what I'm talking about) and its the busiest highway. It would appear my brakes work great during the bright day and nightime.....on the 401 there are many spots you need to brake quickly as traffic jams up without notice....

any way you can get that plastic to be clearer so you can see the leds and not lines? like on bimmers and accords and stuff. the red plastic is see through.

You could probably sand it down to a smooth surface...but chose not to as it disperses the light better. On top of that the plastic is much more fragile than headlight plastic.....I'm not breaking another tailight to find out. That one already cost me 220 bucks.

Thats the most important part of separating the lens is making sure it is nice and toasty when you do it. It cools off pretty quick and if it does....SNAP!!!

I have to throw it back in the oven at least 3 times to get it separated in a safe manner. My one time painful on the wallet rush job was the last time.
