I have used the 3M headlight restoration kit and it works pretty good. You have to have a high speed drill with lots of battery but overall it worked really well.

I know I am bumping an old thread. I have done this on a few cars. Best bet is to brush or spray on a clearcoat:mineral spirits 50:50 mix to protect the lens. This will last far longer than any uv sealant. You can put the sealant or wax after the clear coat.

Need to open lens by putting in an oven. Google it, you will find how to do it. Its easy but takes some guts to cook your headlights.

1st. 1500 grit- 10 minutes wet sanding
2nd. 2000 grit- 20 minutes wet sanding
(after the sanding you wont be able to see through the light at all, so dont worry)
3rd. 3M rubbing compound (rub it in hard, or use a buffer)
4th. Meg's Polish
5th. Meg's carnuba wax

You could start with 1000, 1500, then 2000 grit if the headlights have severe scratches or haze.

When I said oxidation I ment a haze that can be seen and felt.
I fear that the wax eventually will wear off. If it is synthetic , I'd worry less but I would still add a coating of something else with UV protection. under the wax.
