Debadge

So I finally debadged my TL. I haven't seen anyone that did what I did though, so let me know how it looks. I've seen people remove our 3.2TL and attach the 3G TL logo, but I personally like the font of our 2G letters, so I cut off the 3.2 and removed that part, leaving just "TL". And I took off the A C U R A emblems also. I also am adding a pic of my PIAA Tera 6000K LED fog lights. I took a photoshoot today with S1CKTypeS and one of my boys with a '06 BMW 3 Series. I will post those pics later.

that looks hot. i was thinking of debadging my car and heard you can do it easily with a heat gun. my question is does the heat gun fuck the paint up and does it leave a mark where the badges were?

You won't damage the paint as long as you don't put the heat gun on max, and you don't just leave it in one spot for too long. Actually, if you do it on a hot day, you don't even need a heat gun. After you remove the badge and remove any gum that was left sticking on the car, take some WD-40, Goo Gone, etc. and rub it on there to remove any marks. But that stuff will strip any wax on the car, so wax that area after you remove the remaining marks. Or, the better thing to do would be to get some polishing compound and use it to rub off the marks. The paint underneath the lettering will probably be less faded than the rest of the car, but it should eventually balance out more or less.

very nice. I have to say that I like that rear look! It just flows with the car being clean, so why not make it cleaner by removign 3.2. I have a ? though.
I have repained my car and now I can't find anything to attach my acura badge back on my trunk...any suggestions?
I think that if you would take TL off too, it will look even cleaner. Thats what I am doing to mine. I am going to just add my badge on, leaveing out 3.2 tl and ACURA.
LOOKING CLEAN once again!

I like having the TL there, so I'll keep it for now. Maybe I'll remove it later, who knows. You want to attach the Acura logo back on? That's held in by two rivets, so I'm not sure exactly what you would do.

Hey, I was just wondering what you cut your 3.2 off with? Also did you pull half of the 3.2 off and cut it while leaving the tl on or did you pull the whole 3.2 tl emblem off cut the 3.2 off and then just put the tl back on? Sorry I'm a newbie >_>

After first putting some layers of painters tape around the emblem to protect the paint, I carefully cut it using a sharp utility knife. I cut it first, and then removed it with the floss method. No need to take the whole thing off and then put it back on. After you remove the badge, use some polishing compound to remove any marks or dirt.

On a side note, I can't believe that photoshoot was over a year ago! Damn time flies. And my car has been much improved since then.

I only have the TL on mine also but its b/c my car debadged the 3.2 itself one day while I was washing it. I noticed it had been loose and it broke apart as I washed over it.

Yep they were definitely a waste as far as light output goes. But they looked pretty nice. Nothing compared to my HID fogs though!
