thanks man!

as for intructions... i just figured it out on my own but... you see this picture i posted earlier:

first of all, pop the hood.
look under the grille and you'll see a couple of hexagonal (or pentagonal) knobs that you need to twist off. that and 2 other connectors that you can easily pop off with your thumb. take the grille off...
there are three pieces for the grille excluding the acura emblem and they are connected with a couple of screws. unscrewed them and take them apart.

and basically you buy the mesh, spray paint it to whichever color you like, cut to size, and sandwich it between the chrome frame and the black plastic thing. then screw them together and also the acura emblem if you want (might need to cut some wires here and there for perfect fit)

so thats short description of how to do it... if you need any more help just pm me or reply on the thread! good luck

yeah, my suggestion is to cut it first, then primer it, paint it and clear coat it...this way you wouldnt scratch the paint up while installing it because after you size it and shape it should fit properly (before painting.)

and regarding 02-03 TLs, the grill DOESNT come apart as in 99-00.

Yeah, just install the mesh (painted or unpainted) without screwing back on the acura emblem. Sandwich the mesh between the large plastic frame and the chrome top. The other chrome piece (wing-shaped thing) I just took out. But I have seen others that left it on underneath the mesh. IMO i like it much better without.

yeah its a total bitch to cut. the longest part of the whole mod was cutting the friggin mesh. personally, i dont like the look with the grille unpainted. but its a personal perference thing, really.

as teknoking said... you should primer it first, then paint + clear coat for long-lastingness. i skipped the primer and clear coat and now the paint is chipping on me.

oh well, i plan to redo this mod on the weekends. not just because of the paint... but also slight flaws here and there with the cutting job as well. i shall post pics again when i get it done.

a picture update:

i think the decision to paint the mesh or not really depends on the car color

i think with a lighter color such as yours subtle....definitely gotta go with painting the mesh black
i don't think it would look good with the mesh a silver color or unpainted

however, darker colors i think could do both painted black and unpainted.....i haven't tried my car (firepepper red) with the mesh black, i just loved how it looked with the mesh a bright color....i think the contrast works very well on my color

either way, it's a great mod, and cheap, which is all the better!

yeah, it's not allowed... i can get pulled over for it. just taking a risk for now.

I took it off about 2 weeks ago because i was polishing and waxing the car. The friggin license plate holder left a 3-4 inch deep scratch on the bumper that i filled with the acura paint. And damn, I realized it looks so much better without the license plate. But haven't had the best luck in past year with the cops so I'm going to put it back on in the next couple of days.
