2G LEDs Reviews and some No Justice PICS
Just wanted to share with you all some of the LED's I currently have and what I've learned for the 2nd Gen TL... Pics were taken at night using Canon SD800IS with 80 ISO. (Some Close ups were taken in Macro mode.)
Dome = DE3175/3175/T6 (qty 1) (39mm Festoon):
Cool White Festoon Based 48 LED SMT Array Bulbs
http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm
These are my favorite. They light up the interior really bright! The rear part of the cabin is significantly more lit by the dome light than the front of the cabin. Previously, I was using the 9LED bulb. All I can say is 48 > 9! I had to use a bit of electrical tape to center the thing in the housing.
Door courtesy lights & Map lights = 194/168/921 (qty 2 for both doors)
921 Bulbs w/ 9 LEDs (These 921s happen to fit but I think not all of them do. Make sure you check the size)http://www.tec-toyz.com/products.htmlI got these a looong time ago...at least a year. They're still working fine. Haven't heard about Tec-Toyz alot lately though. To me, they they're not exceptionally bright, but they serve its purpose. I don't want to be blinding everyone with these. Unseen in the pictures, these are front facing LEDs, so for the door courtesy lights, they look like circles in the housing and don't really light up the housing that well because they are so close to the lense. Oh well... they are great on the maps though.
Trunk light = 168/194 (qty 1)
Green Wedge Based (194) 36 LED Array Bulbs

This is the rice within me coming out. I put these in just for nostalgia-sake. They light up the trunk fairly well and are a lot more green looking than in the pictures. These bulbs don't fit the trunk housing unless you leave the plastic housing cover down. Again, I used a bit of electrical tape to center and align it. I would have liked the light a little more dispersed, but I'm satisfied.
License plate light = 168/194 (qty 1)
Cool White Wedge Based (194) 9-LED SMT Tower II
http://autolumination.com/194.htm
I've been using these for the license plate light for a while now. I like them because they're white, but not excessively bright to draw attention. This bulb disperses light really well. I was using some down-facing LEDs before and they create an annoying puddle effect on the floor below the license plate because our 2nd Gen plates are low on the bumper. Make sure the bulbs you end up purchasing for this light fit the housing because there is a plastic dome cover the bulb needs to clear. Pics show it more blueish than it actually appears.
LEDs have come a long way and still improving. Hope this helps some 2G people out there. Again, Pics just never do lights any justice.

Thanks! I just wish these things would go down in price. The price for technology these days sheesh. But I can say automotive lighting has come a long way. I still remember my ghetto fabulous poor @ss high school days painting my bulbs and tail lights with nail polish and candy apple spray paint hahahaha. Ah, the good ole days...
