Some where under the car (like the mid muffler area)

The kit that was put on the vette in the show on tv was alot cleaner than that and was a twin turbo.

Ive seen that maxima one before. Its really cobbled together but he says it works really well. We have enough room to run both pipes up the center tunnel. Heat wrap and a heat shield between them would eliminate any heat soak between the 2

If you went to a single exhaust you could mount it where the muffler was and it could be up and out of the way. and the filter could be mounted up behind the bumper where t would stay dry and away from the elements.

Rear mount turbo in the works. Doin' my 01 TL, brothers 02 sunfire, and friends 97 maxima. All parts will be new;piping, heat wrap, shields, intercoolers, injectors, turbos, fuel pumps, pressure regulators, and computer work we are going to average $1400 per car. TL is getting ~6 to start, ~8 in the maxima, and my brother is starting @~10. We hope to have all 3 running strong no later than EARLY July.

We decided on this route after seeing a rear mount setup over 3 years ago, doing a little looking around, and contemplating our goals/funds. It will be a bit before we get started but there will be plenty of photo's.

interesting. imo no company is going to make an sc kit now for our gen TL. claims they will, but Ill believe it when I see it (I hope I eat my words though lol). When it comes down to it, these companies are still in the business to make money. From a business standpoint, it doesnt seem like such a great investment, esp on such an old car. As for custom turbo, that is going to run atleast 5gs for a decent setup....id rather just swap in a CLS6 motor/tranny. The best option if you must go FI imo is a CT SC...you can still have them serviced, its not rocket science...you can even change the fluid inside at home. Yeah, youll void the warranty but a) if you buy used its already not valid and b) CT is no longer around. My suggestion...just wait for a deal on a CT SC. I picked up mine real cheap, cheaper than the cost of just the GT35R turbo and some piping lol...(you prob will not be as lucky though

I'd never seen anything like that rear turbo setup. Actually underneath the car. That is strange, but cool. Like I said though, I will probably still be going with a SC. Comptech or no, I will find one

ive been researching the sts turbo for a while and its what i would do if i would want to put a turbo on my car. as for the exhaust i would have all 2.5" piping from headers to a high flow cat to a Borla Resonator to the turbo and then a y-pipe out of the turbo to dual exhuast tips, no mufflers. i would mount the turbo were the stock y-pipe is in our car now and run the intake for the turbo to the back left inside wheel well into the trunk and the filter in the trunk behind the liner. if you have takin the liner out of the trunk you would know what space im talking about, its a perfect spot to put the filter, you could run the piping from the turbo to that and it would never get wet or even that dirty. the big question about rear mounted turbos is do you need a special turbo for it because the STS site Claims you need there turbo otherwise it would not work because of the pressure. what are your guys thoughts about that? do you need a STS turbo for a rearmount? Here is where i got this information on the STS Site

ive been looking at that sts kit for about a year now and if you think about it, it would be an easy install the bitch part is running all your lines. come out of the exhaust side of the turbo then y pipe then you can still run your duals or do a mid mount turbo and get rid of the cat since you wont need it anyway and put it right off the end of the headers then BOOM its fuckin simple.

why you shake your head? a cat on a turboed car is pretty pointless theres really no need for it on its just gonna hinder the flow of the exhaust and a turbo kinda acts as a muffler to begin with

IOW, since the turbo acts like a muffler you don't need a cat.

A muffler actually restricts more than most cats do...

You need a cat to be legal, just get a hi-flow one, there's only going to be 1hp difference or so between a good hi-flow cat and no cat.
