There would be no point in any mod if you drive normally.

Normally meaning not racing nor heavy footed... but I do enjoy occasional flooring when entering freeways and passing noisy annoying cars on the road

I live in CALI and so you guys think spraying something on these xs headers have a big possibility in making it pass visual inspection? It was mentioned in other threads that it should pass emmisions without any problems... just have to worry when they pop the hood....???

Spray them with gray or black heat paint, Make a bracket to mount the front heat shield on when you have to go in for inspection just to minimize what they see.

Well then if you occasionally like to get on it i would recommend a CAI, Headers and Pulley.

while we're on this topic, might i ask; i was told by a guy i know that, due to the decreased backpressure and loss of equilibrium in the exhaust system, headers actually slightly decrease the very low end tq/hp, and really only give gains once in the higher end. which would mean they would actually hurt your off-the-line abilities i would assume. is this true?

That depends. From the dynos I've seen , the gains in the lower end is minimal, but I don't recall seeing any decrease.

I think it really depends how well the headers are tuned. And usually this tuning effect is optimized over a fairly narrow band of rpm.

For these aftermarket headers, I guess they are tuned to increase hp, so they are optimized in the higher end, and thus there's little gain when the rpm is low.

I have no loss in off the line. The V6 will get into its power band fast enough where you will never notice a loss if there was even one.

Passing emissions would be easy. It would do nothing to change that. Problem is its not CARB certified. Only Comptech is.

xs headers i bought from a member just arrived. will have it installed on my next paycheck =) any tips for installation that I am suppose to know or DIY guide should cover everything. Am i suppose to buy anything else? maybe new bolts or something like that? torque amount in the DIY list should be followed strictly>?

also, is there already a consensus in the effect of xs header in low rpms. worse result should be no increase in performance right? or one should really expect some decrease as some ppl mention? pls advise
