What cheap, yet effective, mods can I add to my '99 TL for better performance?

I am looking for just a little more HP from my TL. I am not looking to race or anything like that, I just want something to play with on the highway. I am on a little bit of a budget (around $600) but I can go higher if it's something that will make a huge difference in performance. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

For around 600 you could do a few things. DC headers=330 dollars or so. An intake is about 250 new. Throttle body spacers are like 80.

Any idea how much horsepower this would add?

Can't quote me on these numbers but these are what I've heard based on others experiences and manufacturers claims. I have the DC headers but not yet installed them as well as a new AEM V2 intake not installed yet. But the headers can add 20-30 hp possibly. Intake says about 5hp and spacers say about 5hp gain. Not sure if those are exact numbers or even close to the actual gains. Maybe someone who has these installed can chime in or hopefully I will have my headers and intake on soon and tell you personally.

You can get headers, intake and a light weight pulley for that budget and have some left over.

I was eyeing a pulley but the motor mounts had to come first. They're seriously pounding me OT so it won't take long.

I have a 99 tl with dc sport headers and AEM cold air intake, the intake gave me more performance but was not drastically noticable at wide open throttle. On the other hand the dc headers gave me drastic performance upgrade as when i punch the throttle i can feel the extra jump and mark my words its an amazing feeling! So i would buy the headers first with ur budget and if u have any money left after instalation buy the intake! Together they work great! I hope i helped!

What is your mileage? If you have to do timing belt soon just buy under drive option pulley for $25 and swap it w/ oem one during changing timing belt time. For CAI, buy a cheap one from ebay and change the filter K&N one, may be around $100 or less.

To dminor, forgot to mention. Before doing any performance, first change your spark plugs to "NGK ZFR5FIX-11 Iridium IX Spark Plug on 99tl if you haven't done it yet. Without doing it, any other mods will not perform as it should be or useless.
Here's where you can buy
Amazon Amazon

$100 to $200 depending on shop. I'd say 1.5 hours labor for inexperienced shop. Exhaust shop might charge only 1 hour.

Remember though, not all muffler shops deal with headers.
