Throttle Body
Throttle Body
A couple of guys on the CL forum have sent out a throttle body to be ported at King , my question will we definately have to lose the VSA and is it worth losing the VSA for the throttle body?

Will you have to lose VSA?
BUT remember the VSA unit will have a smaller inside diameter than the ported TB and the intake manifold will as well. So until you port match the entire intake tract, you probably won't see any gains.

Call King and ask them if they could port the VSA unit as well. I don't have one on my 99 so I couldn't tell you if it's possible. Then find a machine shop to port the intake manifold opening.

Yeah, you really need to go all the way or nothing.
On my 99 I've got the TypeS TB and a custom 3" CAI. Now I need to port match the intake manifold opening and I should see some improvement.

I had King MotorSports bore out both my TB and VSA at $150 each. I then had my IM bored out at a local shop for $125. Total cost $425. Net gains 0-3 whp.
Save your money and buy a UR crank pulley. Twice the gains at half the price.

Total cost of the Unichip plus custom dyno tune was about $625.
I wouldn't recommend a Unichip either.
