short ram heat shields and air breathers
Just wondering what is the purpose of intake heat shield, mostly for short ram i believe, supposedly to block some of the heat and help with those using short ram.... is this true and can it really help or is it bogus?
Also, just wondering about air breathers, sort of like a crank case breather, and if it helps, because for 7 dollars its pretty cheap, tho there are mixed ideas about if it will actually help

Most people and places recommend that people with SRIs get a heat shield. Many times the air that it is getting is actually from the engine and not the environment. You can also make one yourself. There is a DIY in the TSX section on how to make one. IIRC, it was just a folded and angled piece of aluminum.

i did have a heat shield on my short ram, infact i even built an insulated box around it at one point, it didnt really make a whole lot of difference. I ended up buying an extension pipe and angle pipe and put a 4 inch cone down in fender well for a cold air intake, much better.
