question on the 2010 TL-awd manifold

what aftermarket throttle body would fit this manifold? i know p2r makes adapter for it to fit our TL or CL throttle body, but i was wondering if you can buy a bigger tb and install it right into the manifold itself instead of the adapter

No. The adapter is for the tl/cl tb.

If your looking for the largest possible TB, keep the stock IM and talk to na (paul) he can make it where you can have a 80mm tb attached to it. (what these motors need)

DBX will be the problem for any TB that fits that IM.

Isn't it possible to get the SH-AWD IM and the P2R adapter, and then get the 80mm TB? It should fit onto the adapter just as a regular TB would.

The adapter is for our TB to fit the DBW mani, gains have been made with the 09, but our motors require more air.

No. 80 is way to big for the 09. The 09 mani isnt aluminum, the mani is magnesium so it can not be welded to in odrer to open up the inlet.

Just a size comparison

80 left, stock right

Why? If you already have it buy the adapter and put the type-s tb on it. There are good gains by doing so

Bringing this back. I was told that for the stock motor, the 80mm throttle body would be overkill. Does anyone else feel this way?

Based on others' experiences, the more air you throw at the J, the more power it makes. I'd love to see if the 80mm TB would indeed be perfect for the stock motor. The TL mani setup is actually more expensive than the 80mm setup as well.

There is a dual 52+ tb setup in the process, as am i working on one as well. You may want to wait a little bit and see what comes of that.

If you have zero other mods you should probably look into them first before slapping on a larger TB.

True, but he has the 3.6L. With the increased displacement, more airflow is a must. The 09 TL mani looks soooooooo sexy under the hood though. It's just expensive if you pair it with the TB.

Well, I have full bolt ons (CAI/full exhaust/Ported mani) as of now. I also have the FIC sitting in my closet, waiting to be tuned hopefully over the winter/early spring. My mani is already ported by P2R, so I feel like doing the 80mm TB/mani opening may benefit me more. Although selling the ported mani and buying the 09 TL may be more cost effective.

The thing about the 80mm TB is, I'd probably need to swap out my AEM intake for a custom 3.5" intake. I think the AEM is around 70mm. A 3.5" with a 'cone' to mate it to the 80mm TB would work awesome I think.

Btw fstty I love your avy haha.

Glad I stumbled upon this thread, recently grabbed an 09 manifold(thanks again kdawg) and have been holding off on the install til I figured what the best tb option to go with.. I was gonna thinking bout just getting a stock one bored out to 71mm cause that's the only option I could dig up in past threads .... Now I guess I'll wait and see what pops up
