Who is all on here that is running nitrous i have a guy thats selling me a ZEX universal dry system with 5 different jets for cheap. What are the adv. and dis-advantages on having this on a TL-P? I know our tranny's are not built to with hold large amount of power and/or abuse. I DONT plan on using this everyday just when i track the car. Maybe 1-2 a year LOL! Any help would be great thanks.

Power really has nothing to do with our trans problems. There are no real disadvantages of it other than when it runs out you have to have it filled. Tom (rajaca) is running it.(like a 75-100 shot)

slow tl..

head/block shouldn't be your worries (if you know what you're doing), it's the tranny I would worry about.. I'm sure it won't fuck the tranny up if you track it a couple times with maybe like a 75 shot... That's what I plan on running.. I'm just waiting on someone to sell me their kit they've had laying around the living room for a while **cough**MATT**cough**

They have a jetting chart.
I'm running the zex dry on my clp.
I was running a 65 shot, and would spray it all day with no problem or upgrades besides the nex nitrous plugs.
I've sprayed a couple time jetted to 100 then bottle ran out.
I haven't sprayed 100 yet at full psi,I kinda want to atleast have a bigger fuel pump first,if not some thing that will retard some timing for me too.
Also the zex dry kit was so easy to hook up.
wet kits are a little more difficult.

hmmm, some good info in this thread i dont think that its going to be too bad to install. I downloaded the intructions from the ZEX website so it shouldnt be too bad... Also has anyone ran their set-up without the TPS sensor hooked up? Just off of switches arming and spraying switch?

I never used a spraying switch, only tps activated.
I was told if you use the arming switch while wot it will work like a spray button.
Not sure if it works I never tried.
Check my domain page,I might have some nitrous pics where you can see where I installed the box, nossle, and bottle.
If you need any more pics let me know.

slammed tl, we have been talking through pms already.
now power wont kill the trans, ummm. about that. my trans was already slipping but when i went on the dyno with a 100 dry shot. when i went wot in 3rd gear the trans took a dump, no 3rd gear at all during the middle of the run. i was at 292whp and 262wtq when it took a shit. but i have been beating the shit out of my tl on the track and street. trans being already hurt didnt help it at all.
just let off of the gas between shifts. and try using a fluid that doesnt have as much friction modifiers as the oem fluid. shifts will be harder but wont slip as much and will prolong the life. 3rd gen members have been doing this and helps alot (and i know that their trans dont blow like ours)
ill take pics of my set up for u

this is/was my dry set up
nitrous nozzle inside intake pipe. make it 6-8 inches before the tb (if ur gonna go with a dry shot). p2r sell a tb spacer (in one of my pics) where u can screw ur nozzle in if ur gonna go with a wet shot
if u want to have it spray at WOT (i would highly recommend that) u need to tap into the redish wire with a black tracer on the tpms sensor
switched and gauge
bottles mounted

Rajca got a question the left side of the set-up the black hose that is going into the back of the head from the ZEX regulator box what is that i did not get that with my set up. I am guessing that you can just buy something like that at autozone or auto parts looks like a rubber hose and a clamp and i am guessing a threaded nozzel or connector that actually goes into the box... please let me know thanks.

i think that its the second pic the hole that says intake over it i got nothing with my set-up for that and it looks like on your pics that you have it hooked to the back of the head with a rubber hose, that hole on the ZEX box is threaded as well so thats why i was thinking that it would need a threaded adapter that will go in there but i could be wrong?

Its a barb fitting that is threaded at one end. Not sure what size or thread pitch but almost positive that its the same as the lower fitting. It goes to the rear plenum on the intake manifold.
Ill take pics when I get home. Tearing apart the engine (top half) so ill take better pics of everything. Any thing else spacific u would like pics off?

Hmm i hope that is all i need the guy i bought from said that he had the system working with what he sold to me... i went out this weekend and got some 14gauge wires for the wiring and some terminals and flags, connectors for the wires as well but i havent had any time to look at it really i think that the mounting place is going to be hard to find as well from the looks of it the strut bar is the only solid place to place the box at...

i mean everything that you dont mind taking pics of i would like LOL the more the better and EASIER the install is going to be for me if you know what i mean? Also the TPS sensor you dont have to wire the system through there unless you want to run the system WOT? Correct me if i am worng. If not through the TPS then you control the system with switch but you dont want to overflow the system with too much nitrous but not enuogh air/fuel, so that is why a lot of people do hook it up to the TPS?

On the side of the battey box is probally the best spot.
I did a lot of placement and it the best for wiring.
Only issue,That has not been a issue is the box is very close to coolent hoses.
Here's the box placement. This pic is before my engine work.
If this spot looks good, use short screws so their will be no contact with the battery.

Tps is by far the safest. U don't want to be at partial throttle at 3k ans spray. Too much nitrous and ur engine blows. U can do it to a switch so when u press the switch it will spray. I wouldn't do that. U will spray at wot when u hook up to the tps. Ill take more pics
