Would you suggest those over the comptech headers? Just curious. I am debating on which one's to get. Thanks!

The obx headers have the 3 bolt flanges.. The headers connect to the downpipe with 3 bolts and a metal gasket.. The 2 bolt is old DC design the new design has 3 bolts.. The 2 bolt design leaks i heard..
I'm 100% happy w/my OBX headers

Dude u do not know how long I was researching headers b4 I bought them.
I was originally gonna go with the DC sport headers (3 bolt) but cheapest I found them was like $380 shipped.. Then i norrowed it down to Megan racing and OBX cuz they where about $280 shipped, but I had a frend total a accord w/obx that where less then a year old gave them to me for $100 so i jumped on them.. I got scared installing them cuz i but the wrong header in front and back (swaped them ) and the j pipe did not fit but i figured out my mistake.. OBX has the welded name plate on the back header , where all other companies have it on the front header so u can see it..
Im 100% happy w/my OBX headers sounds nice and got some power up top!

problem is they are first gen comptech ripoffs, and they arrive dirty as all get out! you have to wash out the header, then spend 2 hours with a dremel getting rid of all the burs, and just cleaning up the pipes is a prep pain in the ass! but installed correctly i have had no complaints, except the ceramic coating is garbage and burns right off!.The DC box was even clean and packaging was excellent!! i don't have to do any prep, clean, etc. that's worth the hundy!

Even the comptechs dont come with that gasket. You (like DC said) reuse the stock ones.

rican and brant, i got those delivered the other day. they are the real hhc5528 with 3-bolt flanges so I'd go ahead and order them if you were looking for DC's. that was the best deal i could find.

I installed the DC Sports on my 02 TL a couple months ago. The box actually had 2 rear headers in it. I didn't notice until I installed both of them and tried to mount up the J pipe.

After chasing the vendor (Andysautosport) then the manufacturer around a bit..DC shipped me the correct front header and the install went off without a hitch.

I also did the APEXi catback and a test pipe at the same time. The car was pretty loud but the power increase was significant (seat of pants dyno).

After a couple weeks though I decided the raspiness and volume was a bit too much so I ordered a new OEM spec Cat and replaced the test pipe. Much better sound, maybe a tiny drop in power delivery.

I added a UR crank pulley shortly after which really improved off-idle response with the reduced rotating mass on the engine.

i put these things on the other weekend. getting the rear one on was a huge pain but everything lined up great after that. i bought some new manifold gaskets from acura for about $45 for both to be safe. these feel better than the XS's i had on but that might be because im hearing nothing but sweet engine noises now and not that raspy shit i was getting before

im getting the hhc5528 in the mail soon, and from doing all the research for bolts/gaskets etc...there wasnt anything mentioned other then keep the oem gaskets or get the new oem gaskets.... im wondering about the bolts and if i need to change them or reuse the stock ones? i saw on the acura website it had bolts i can purchase too...some say get them from hardware stores (xs header owners).... so i dont know if dc will need new bolts?

If you got the headers new, You shounldnt need any bolts unless you break yours. The XS bolts are cheap thats why those owners replaced them.

They don't come with nuts. Use the OEM's and you should be fine.

I re-used my stock nuts and have had no problems. Currently @ 179k miles

how do you like the dc headers? is it noisy? im going for the quieter side...dont want anything crazy...something deep and low is good...dont want my car sounding like a fart can

also, did u install it yourself? i wouldnt know how to install it, so i was thinking of taking it to a shop...any estimates in cost to get it done? thanks

So far so good. Like my earlier post said, power increase is good, the exhaust was a little raspy with my test pipe so I switched it back to an OEM cat with the Apexi catback. Sound is good now, not raspy, has a nice low "growl" I'll call it.

If you're pretty handy with tools, and know you're way around a car, the install should go fairly well. If you're not, then pay a shop to do it. I have no idea what a shop would charge. It took hours and hours due to me having 2 rear headers by mistake. The hardest part was unbolting the big motor mount (rear) and getting the header past it, then bolting it back up. Although, after about 6 tries, I got pretty good at it

You def want to make sure you're putting the front header on the front of the motor and the rear header on the rear. They ARE different.

well i have all the tools including air tools.... i dont know how much difference it would make for cutting down installation time... if the price isnt too bad for getting it done at a shop, i might just go do that....

my setup is just going to be ct icebox w/ magnaflow mufflers.... now with the addition of dc sports headers...hope that combo will sound well

If you have stock mufflers they wont really make it any louder. Thats what the mufflers are for.

i put these on about a month ago and the sound is great. i dont have any other exhaust upgrades but u can barely tell the difference until you step on it. if you're not too handy i would take it to a shop because like jeffrop said, getting that rear motor mount off and back on is a pain. i probably wouldnt have been able to do it without help from my pops who's pretty good with cars. oh and this comes with all the bolts to connect the manifold to the j pipe but you do use the stock nuts to hold the manifold to the block - which is normal for headers.

but the bolts are good quality right? and you reused your old oem gaskets and o-rings?

yeh the bolts are definitely high quality. idk the grade or anything but they just seemed heavy duty. and they came with lock nuts which came in handy when tightening everything down

came with new o-rings

i actually bought new factory gaskets because i had already re-used the stock ones with my xs headers. figured this would be safer but i dont think it would be necessary for u

ok good, i was thinking i had to buy new bolts and stuff from researching headers...but it seems that its only for xs header owners... so you used the new o-rings that came from dc sports also?

i will be reusing my gasket most likely, unless i have time to swing to acura ... but coming from stock, i think its ok to reuse... how much is the 2 pieces, its like 15-20 bux a gasket right? came out to be about 40 w/tax n stuff?

Like i said before, the only people that needed to buy new hardware were those that bought the XS headers.

The Stock gaskets are metal and CAN be reused. The only reason you wouldnt be able to is if you somehow damage them while off the car.
