Need a New Catalytic Converter
I think I need to replace the stock catalytic converter on my TL-S. It has 142k miles and is making that rattling sound at low speeds when I step on the accelerator a bit. The rattling sound is a little less pronounced once the exhaust system is warmed up a bit. The problem sounds exactly like what another Azine member posted recently and was resolved by a new converter. Heat shields seem to be securely fastened.
My dilemma: what is the consensus on replacement catalytic converters? I'm looking for a high flow one since I'm running headers. i know it won't make much of a difference, but looking for a good replacement for a TL-S, size-wise. Thanks.

Well Im replacing my cat here soon, Im also thinking High Flow, I found a direct bolt on one, http://www.convertershack.com/produc...tic-converter/ But you can find a cheaper one that you need to weld on (not direct fit).

Any other suggestions for a high flow cat for a TL-S? I didn't want jack Mineme's since he's looking for a HFC for his TL-P. Any feedback on Excelerate's HFC as to fit, sound, and cost vs other options?

From what I understand, the new XLR8 HFC is pretty good in terms of quality and it will pass emissions. The exhaust will sound a little more raspy however, so beware of that.
But if all you're trying to do is get rid of the rattle, you could fix it without replacing the entire cat. Inspect the bolts and general area of exhaust. Something is loose if there is a rattle, and replacing the cat is a little bit of a jump.

"Exhaust Rattles 2400 to 3000 rpm" .

If you are going aftermarket, I think it only depends on your inlet/outlet dimensions you need and you can get it welded in. Here are several with 2.5" in/out:

If you want to keep OEM, I'd try a salvage yard or car-part.com. I had 2 OEM cats for my RSX because I gutted one out after it failed (currently on my car) and another one I picked up for $50 off a forum even though they retail over a grand!

Thanks Nats007. Magnaflow is a good brand. I don't know anything about Catco. I'll go to the neighborhood Ed's Mufflers (the manager there is cool) and see if they can diagnose if the rattle really is from the catalytic converter.

If you're looking for a high quality high flow cat I'd recommend our XLR8 unit.

I know the quality of the items you carry - I've purchased from you before so I trust what you sell - but that's a steep price for an HFC, about twice what I was planning to spend. Thanks though.
