Unhappy Need help, my comptech b-pipe doesn't fit!!!

took a close look at the pipe today and found out the the stock cat-converter will not fit the b-pipe flange

i got an option which i don't really prefer to do is take off the cat and put a test pipe to make it fit, but it would costs 120 extra to do so to make it fit

now i doubt i really want to do this coz it will be LOUD without the cat, and i got emissions test coming up in November since my car is 4 yrs old, there's no way i can pass without the cat

another way to keep the stock cat is i can make the custom piping which only costs me 250-300 with labour

what should i do? sell the b-pipe and do a custom one? or just do the test pipe?

please advise

I was under the understanding that the comptech b-pipe was only for the type s ...but Sam if I were you I would sell the b-pipe and get a custom pipe made. You definately do not want to take the cat off it will sound like and with emissions coming up it will be a hassle. goodluck

If you ever want to trade or sell the car, do not remove the cat. Also, what would you do with the O2 sensors? Removing the cat is a bad idea.

Yup. The B-pipe is for the Type S. Why dont you try to find a Type S cat.

I don't know what exactly you had customized, but the flange fitment would've been the first thing I would have gotten done.

Cut the B-pipe right by the flange, rotate the flange to line it up with the catalytic converter, and get it welded.

The solution is extremly simple. This is like a half hour job at the most. I don't know why you're so stumped on this one.

you don't want to cut on the 450 dollar comptech b-pipe, nor the 600 dollar cat converter....or else i have done that without a second thought

What makes you think the Premium ECU will recognize the Type-S catalytic converter and operate normally? I'm just asking. Obviously there's a reason why the two models have two different types of catalytic converters, and you don't know for sure if they are interchangeable. The parameters might be different on the O2 sensor readings.

To me, it doesn't make sense to go to all this trouble to fit a freakin' B-pipe, especially when it doesn't even yield that big of a power gain. You're telling me that you don't want to cut into your expensive pipe, but tell me exactly why. It's not like you're gonna be welding on the inside of the pipe and hurting the air flow. I just don't understand your logic here.

A properly welded pipe is as good as a straight uncut/unwelded pipe. It shouldn't cost you more than like 20-30 bucks (US) to re-lengthen and weld a pipe. Yet, you're looking at a 100-dollar option of getting a new converter which may or may not work with the Premium ECU, and looking at another expensive option of getting a custom pipe made.... when you've already bought the Comptech B-pipe, and all you have to do is get it re-lengthened and welded -- the cheapest, most efficient and the best route in this case.

All this for a B-pipe which won't do anything for performance anyway.
