Headers with stock exhaust

So I sold my tanabe catback and might be picking up a set of XS Power headers to bolt up to my stock exhaust...

My questions is, will I feel the gains even with the stock exhaust? Or am I better off not even wasting time on the headers?

I"m also planning on gettting the UR Stock Sized Crank pulley too just to free up some hp

from headers to exhaust freeing hp in that area is all about your cat. The stock cat is too restrictive.

to answer your question... even with just headers you will still feel ("butt dyno") quite noticeable gains.

^ SCHWEET! That's the response I was waiting to hear. haha

IF the stock cat ever craps out on me I'm just going to gut it out and put a defouler on there so I don't get a CEL.

I might just invest in a set of these soon.

The Type S cat is a little bigger than the TL-P cat, right?

I'm considering getting a test pipe, or putting in a Type S cat. Are there any side effects to using a test pipe (other than not passing emissions). I understand the exhaust will smell bad, but will it damage a catback? I don't want to mess up the catback I got coming in soon.

You will feel and see gains from just headers. I see you have a CAI and thermobloc spacers so the difference will be much better. Our stock exhuast flows well out of the box, but the CAT is the next biggest bottleneck. I'd get a Random Tech Hi Flow Cat. Excelerate has 2.5" in/out ones now. I have an older 2.25" in/out one and it's much better than stock 2" in/out. A Catback will give you a little extra at the top of the powerband, but that's it. You will not feel it at all otherwise. The sound though is everything!!

you will feel gains up top. your exhaust will sound a little pingy because there is a lot more air going through them, so aftermarket or custom exhaust with a 2.5" cat as well is the ultimate set-up. xs collector 2.5" then get 2.5" cat, then 2.5" piping for the exhaust...no resonator or mid muffler either, with some bigger sized mufflers and your good to go with no raspyness or vibration and an aggressive sound with good top end power...Xs headers buzz around the collector though, so dont be alarmed by that

You will still see plenty of gains from the headers alone.

DC Sports makes a great header also for the CL/TL Auto.

We have those in stock.

Thanks, But those are a bit out of my price range for headers...

What size piping should i get with headers and stock mufflers? I have a single magnaflow( sounds Like a civic) that im replacing with the stock mufflers in the morning. I'm getting headers soon and want to keep the stock look so just curious what size piping is best. Thanks

why bother? The 2" inlet of the stock mufflers will be your bottlekneck and restrict even if you run 3"

dude the headers will give you gains but I would go ahead and get exhaust as well....

the reason I say so is your are opening up the headers but them putting a restrictive exhaust so your engine is working extra hard to push that air out...

so you will feel the gains but not the full thing....once you put the exhaust it will complement the headers giving you more gain...
