FYI: rear brake light bulb part #
All,
One of my rear bulbs burned out and the warning light showed up on the instrument panel. Check the owner's manual and it says "12 V 21/5W" bulb. Go to the Canadian Tire (a Canadian version of Wal-mart ... which sells everything) ... and go home.
When I get back and take off the trunk lining to get to the bulbs... I realize that there must be more than 1 version of "21/5W" bulbs. I take the 'bad' one out and go back to the store. While the bulb does say "21/5W" on it, the fitting is clearly not the same. The bulb has a double-element so it requires 4 sets of contacts (instead of the typical 2 contacts. Apparently, GE makes a generic replacement (bulb # 7443). Bought it (2 bulbs for $10) and went to the parking lot and change it.
After 1 month of being lazy, I finally got rid of the 'parking brake' warning light. Just a heads up so you don't make the same mistake. This is the first (and only) time I don't take the bulb out and bring it into the store to make sure it's the right one.
