Thumbs up Engine Decorations - Part 1

Hey Guys!

Here's something I'd like to ask.. I was thinking of decorating my engine to the color I'd want.. perferable saphire blue/ dark blue.. here's a picture of where I'd want the colors to be on.

http://elpanatl32.tripod.com/engine_frontal.jpg

Where the emblem and words are for the engine, the black/silver area.. I'd want to paint that area.. is there a kind of paint out there that'll hold to these surfaces and endure the heat the engine puts out?. Preferably spray paint would be awesome

Futhermore, is there a DIY out there to proceed with this task or is everything as simple enough as to remove the 4 big bolts and 2 flat head screws that hold the pieces down to paint them?

... The battery casing would be another thing I'd like to paint. :-p

Thanks!

Hey dude...FYI...your going to get your balls busted bad if you don't start trying to do a "search" before you post a thread. (trust me I did the same thing when I first joined a few months ago) I could care less, but some of the guys in here are really funny, but brutal. Anyway, this thread should help you out.

I have to look out for my fellow RIer (eventhough you just got here) HAHA

you can see my results in that thread above, I'd recommend duplicolor products, they are fantastic. You do not need any kind of "heat-resistant" paint, just find a color that works for you!

Heat paint is not necessary! Any good spray paint will work, as long as you prep the surface properly.(ie clean/degrease, sand, clean, primer, paint)

You do have a point, besides, the paint's only 3 bucks (walmart) anyway.. on top of that, just the feeling that I've done something to the car with my own two hands, knowing that it'll look better each time I pick at it just makes me appreciate it even more... Understand where I'm coming from? I mean hey, killing 3-4 hours to do the job kinda makes you feel good in a way once you see the finished product

AHH!! Sweet! I'm definitely waiting for this visual experience to happen! I'm posting up pictures of the car painted tonight, so expect them to be up around 10 tonight.. I'll be painting the car with either a bright red coat or dark blue finish.

I just did a really simple silver/black scheme with the engine & spark plugs cover, may not be exactly what you are looking for but I guess it doesn't hurt to throw in a picture for kicks
