alright. so i was determined to do this mod so i went out there with a screwdriver and pliers in hand. and i figured out the secret to the stupid clips, u pull out the inner part first then work the entire piece out. but anyway, def can't figure out how to get them back in... they're way to deformed. sounds nice tho, really nice growl, if you could call it that, when VTEC kicks in

I did it and I was rather let down with how much it made the motor grunt! I don't notice anything different unless it's WOT, I did the same thing to a civic of mine a while back and it made the motor grunt a lot more!
I can hear the motor cross-over into v-tec and that is when it grunts the most, but I was hoping it would grunt much more that it does...

cool. just did this in about 30min. took me so long b/c of those bastard ass clips.
i think someone asked this before, but is it NECESSARY to be using a k&n air filter after doing this? i'm not using a k&n at the moment, despite whether i should be or not.

...also, is it necessary to reset the ecu on my 03 tl after doing this?

You DO NOT have to reset anything, took mine out and put in a CAI and there were no problems.

thanks. well, i did buy a k&n, not really b/c i believed there was a performance boost, but b/c they last a lot longer than the $14-$15 ones

use the first part of this DIY. Thats what i did. Process is very easy. The only reason it took me two hours was because of those stupid pop-clips and removing some bolts that were so rusty, they somehow welded themselves to the bumper...
good luck.

I found two members, rbsuerfer and bass222000, have pictures here and I'll send them a PM and ask them toi log in to their photobucket accounts.
Most people don't know that photobucket started closing down accounts that haven't been logged in to for over 4 months, and I only found out because some of my scans stopped being visible and people told me about it.
Both members have been active recently so we should be able to get the pics back up.

anyway, i would want to try this out too not for any performance gains but for some sound. i'm trying to do as many stealthy mods as possible since i share the car with my mom once in a while and can't do anything too noticeable. pics please!

someone told me that when you take a bumper off and you put it back on it is very hard to realign it with the rest of the body panels adjacent to it. Is this true? Those of you that took it off, is it aligned perfectly with the rest of the car?

There is nothing hard to it. It snaps right into place. There really isnt any room for adjustment.

Okay, I did it. Now there is drone type sound at idle. It kind of gives me a headache. The sound doesn't seem to change with RPMs, either. Performance wise, I notice a little better initial pickup from the better airflow, and a very slight growl hitting it hard.

I didn't remove my bumper, and it was not ten minutes. I like to see how things work, so I actually took out my air box first to see the view from above. The top part of the resonator (the elbow-shaped tube) was very easy to remove from the top; you just pull up on it - no bolts. Then I could see the bottom portion - the box - through the hole.
The box has two bolts - one close to the bumper, and one further back toward the wheel. The back one is fairly easy to remove by reaching through the hole where the top part of the resonator was.
The one near the bumper cannot be accessed from above. This is where removing the bumper cover would help tremendously. My car is a rebuild, and it seems that half of my front end is held together with zip-ties, and I didn't want to have to cut and replace those. So I removed a couple of bolts from the bottom of the splash guard (in front of the wheel well), pushed it aside, and reached up from below to get the other bolt. I'm not gonna lie to ya...it was difficult to get it out. You have to lay on the ground and reach up and basically do it by feel. You can't see the bolt at all, so you have to feel around for it, then coerce a ratchet with an extension up there, get the socket on the bolt, and loosen it - all by feel. You might as well be doing it in the dark. It can be done, but definitely not a ten minute job.
These younger guys can bounce up off the concrete floor and lean over fenders easier than us old farts, so maybe they can do it faster.

I live in Utah where it's still raining and snowing alot, when I attempted to remove it felt like there was a lot of water inside the plastic tube, if I remove resonator will I suck up to much water? I've had cai before but used bypass valves.

^x2 Plus, the splash guard is just that - a guard against water splashing up into the engine bay. As long as you have one, you will be good...unless you drive into one of those two foot puddles...aka a pond.

No measurable gain in performance, although it *feels* a little more responsive with the better breathing, but no added hp.
Doesn't affect mpg. Maybe a smidge better if anything.
The car gets used to it pretty quickly - idling or driving. Not an issue.
Installation is reverse of removal - same issues.
