Cat back exhaust on non type s 2003 TL?
Hi, I am a noob to customization.
I been trying to figure this out for a while now.
I have a 2003 TL non-type S. Thinking about putting catback exhaust on it. However all I could find were the type s exhausts for that year and model.
I mean the shop should be able to custom install I suppose... but will i miss out on performance if it has to be custom installed? I mean are the type-s and non-types exhausts that much different??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=360132643829
Here's one I been thinking about..
Would appreciate any help thanks!

If you have $1000 to spend, lol, the ATLP makes a dead sexy sound and produces some gains...
An exhaust shop can make you a great sounding and flowing cat back for around $600. Not sure if they'd be able to develop something w/ performance gains though...
Alternatively, the Comptech mufflers for the TL-P actually do produce a gain, expensive though for just mufflers. Can't find the dynos anymore -- but Comptech had them on their site a long time ago. Pair them w/ headers and and HFC and you'd have a nice setup.

I saw the videos for ATLP, it sounds really good.. i was thinking Apexi(since it's cheaper), because I am currently in process of putting in car PC.
but after those videos i really feel like going those extra 400$
this might sound stupid but wat is HFC? Also which headers would be a good choice?

Awesome thanks!
Do headers play big role in power increase lets say for ATLP or Apexi?
I guess what I'm trying to find out is, do i have to get bunch of other parts along with exhaust?

Great! Thanks for all the awesome info!!
ugh didn't expect comptech to be that expensive... Right now thinking aether DC Sports or Megan.. What is the usual wait for aptl exhaust? Also do you know if there where there any improvements to it since 06, since it was just prototype back then?
Thanks!

Looks like I'll be pairing it with the comptech headers as well. Do I still need high flow cat? Or the comptech downpipe act as one?

oh nice, they actually got retailer not too far from me. Too bad i just blown 350 on new mounts :/
Catalytic Converter goes in between the downpipe and the exhaust? So if i don't replace it, will just have to use the old one correct?

Ooo, i see how a higher flow cat would add some HP. neat =]
btw, i did Bxscig's Fog mod yesterday. One you pointed me to jjashaa. was abit of a hassle but i'm happy with the results
also changed cabin air filter, which looks like it has never been changed before!
Gotta love acurazine's DIYs
stock bulbs, came out mad bright on pic!

i wish i had money for the atlp... sigh...
thanks for the help jaasha. so the only way to make a comptech catback happen on a tl-p is to change the cat to a type s cat. what a bummer!! and im assuming that will fit on the tl-p header because those are the same. aww that sucks... changing a flange or anything else might work?
atlp is so tempting... hope they make more batches!!

Last I heard it was bc a bunch of people said they were going to buy them and then bailed after they came out. I could be wrong though but I'm pretty sure thats why they are being discontinued
