2nd Gen TL auto transmission alternatives?

^^ i never had the shop flush the trans, they just topped it off as it was a tad low...
to answer your question a lil better...
we had a super cold night, next morning i went to the store and sitting at a stop sign in my neighborhood i gave it a little gas and it felt like i had inadvertently shifted to neutral so i moved the shifter down to what i thought was drive (put it in D3) and back up to drive (5)... I continued to the store with out issue but that made me think and i needed an oil change any way...
i really thought the cold weather froze a solenoid or some other stupid little thing happened...
that was the only time it slipped before going out all together while on my trip...

My tranny went on an 01 CL Type-S I bought a tranny off of what looked to be an 03 TL Type S. Guy is tellinig me the tranny isnt working because it has different gear ratios which I never heard in my life. He is saying the tags on the tranny are different. I need BGFA tranny instead of the V7W4 tranny I now have sitting in CL. The digital gear read doesnt even come on when in Tiptronic. HAs anyone ever heard of the trnny being wrong. What is a suggested fix. Simply switching the sensors??

A 5 speed AT from a "TL-S" should work fine in a "CL-S".
Perhaps the gear selector switch needs adjusted ?
If the tranny is from an '03 TL, it may be simply something overlooked during the installation process. Recheck the work and connections.
It's after the fact......but the ideal donor replacement has been the '06>'07 AV6 tranny.

the 3rd gen tl transmission will bolt up as long as it isnt the 3rd gen type S.
it will run in limp mode.
however! if u swap the sensors from the 2nd gen tranny it will be fully functional. the main reason it works is because u are putting the 2nd gen range switch on it.
its been done and one of our members p.diddy was going to do it again.
its a good alternative for those of u who are out of warranty.
nva-av6 (paul) has done the swaps on accords.
this will not work on the 99 tl's with the 4 speeds

Will the 3rd gen type-S fit the 02 type-S

You said the ideal replacement is a 06/07 AV6 tranny I found a 2005 will low miles. Its still considered a 7th Gen so why is the 06/07 preferred besides the fact that its newer. Is the configuration different?? Any problems i should know about the 2005 Accord tranny?
Thanks in Advance

AV6 is almost identical to our B7WA (Our stock trans) physically its identical to the TL-S trans main difference is that it doesn't have the speed hole for the Power Steering system for TL-p users..
With TL-S you need to compare them side by side and look at the components swap everything from your stock trans to AV6 including the ATF warmer and done!.
With TL-p just need to cancel the speed thingy from the power steering as an added step.
AV6 trans have relatively the NORMAL amount of dead trans history which means its okay every car has a bad apple from time to time not a fucking farm full of them like in our case... don't worry about the details it gets better, much better.

hoping i didn't miss the answers and ask the same questions again:
so the question remains of whether the 2005 av6 is the same as the 2006/2007?
also, is the 3g tl transmission or the ody transmission less desirable/ideal than the av6?

Ok, without reading the whole thread here is what I have done and what I know can be done....
First, it is stright forward to put in a 3rd gen tl/7th gen AV6/03-07 oddy tranny in a 2nd gen TL provided that the TL was a 00+ which had a 5spd in it already, everything bolts up but you will have to transfer a couple of parts from your old tranny, the trans range switch and the oil cooler/filter assembly, other than that it is a stright bolt up. Now if you have a 4spd TL/CL you will also have to get a new engine wire harness and ECU from a 5spd TL/CL and may* have to do a little repin/rewire for the chassis connection to the ECU.

Hey everyone.. Here's what I'm thinking...
I've seen a few threads about people that are replacing the stock transmission with a 6-speed, but I was wondering what automatics would fit in our cars easily.
So do the 04+ TL and Accord automatics fit right in as well?
I'm just hoping once people answer this, it can serve as a nice reference for at least SOMEONE out here.

I've been reading and trying to understand all the info in this thread and I think I have a grasp on some of it.
I've already had my transmission rebuilt once before I knew these cars just had bad trannys. It's starting to give me a little trouble so I started looking. Will this fit? The ad says 2003-2007 Accord V6 transmission...

1. Reuse the range sensor from the original trans
2. Subframe, 2 gen trans mounts
3. A,B,C and D sensor wire harness
4. Reuse trans Cooler from 2Gen trans (3Gen Cooler is mounted backwards).
That's what I can remember so far, but check my thread out. I have listed the details there.
