2002 acura tl-s blown trans, (who knew)

Hey there, I'm new, but i own a 2002 Acura Tl-s 5 speed trip.
silver, loaded, black leather, and yesterday coming home one the highway, it kicked up from d5 accelerating to 65mph, but instead of gaining forward speed, it tach'd out at 4 grand and grinded to 45pmh instantly. Blown tranny now. But my question is, i have a parts cl, 2001 with either a BGFA, or a MGFA automatic, Will either one successfully replace my current tl-s 5 speed trans, which is a B7WA?... Or is my head in the clouds in hope of saving myself $2grand i do NOT want to heavily, or mildly modify the car, that's what my jeep is for.. speedy reply's appreciated

how long have you had the car? current miles? original trans?
does it have the `recall installed external oil jet kit` on top of trans?
if not- you may be in luck

well i have had the car since 2005, payed 13000, with 60,xxx miles. It's 2011 now, and it has 164,xxx miles. Before i owned it it was carfaxed as having the recall. and from what i understand, all of the tl's with the trcoils have the oiler kit... but im not %110 sure, as i met someone who had a transmision replaced by Acura, and it was not installed. just a direct replacement. And thanks, this is as speedy a reply as i could hope for!

and there are blue bolt heads on the trans bolts?- thats a warranty replacement but if oil kit external its a 2004 or earlier -meaning uses original design case
2005 was a switch to different case

the recall was to install the oiler kit--nothing else
BUT-
if they found certain heat damage with a boroscope -where the oiler now sends cooling fluid- they replaced the trans right then as warranty

the recall was to prevent snapping of the 2nd gear shaft at freeway speed= sudden stoppage--it does normally fix that 1 issue
and has nothing to do with clutch pack wearout we all fear

whats your fluid look like now?

not sure, took it home and parked it, and im in the zj now... but i can tell you its not pretty, last time i had it 3x drained & filled, it was pretty nasty, and since then, i'v put the same amount of mileage as the old fluid had on it... maybe more, but it was pretty roasted before. I don't think d 5 does anything at all, it would grip, then let out a bang, tach out and kick in, under any load. i bearly made it home in d4... i kind of doubt the compatibility of the cl transmission, but i was curious. D5 didnt flash at all. but at 97k when d5 was flashing every few days,i took it in for slipping, because the warrantee went until 108k, were myself, and my father, being a certified Honda tech, (motorcycles watercraft, atv etc.) were told we were imagining things.. I have NOTHING good to say about the dirty diapers of managers they have down at claire acura north".

well in the garage, all i can see are the the back few bolts, and are like they have never been touched, so I don't think its actually been replaced. But out of 108k, I'm out of warranty at 164k.

there are pics on here of the bolts- its most any you can see associated with trans attachment thru itself-- or things to it
very easy to spot if they are painted or not = warranty unit

wow an original unit!!! or rebuilt at trans shop-= not done thru warranty
(info for others- I read you owned the car this whole time)

there are plenty of bolts that will show wear if trans has been removed before

based on your story- I would guess original that went another 60 for you after it tanked at 108 and they `couldnt find problem`

any swap gurus have a suggestion for this member??- CL or odessy or what trans for easiest drop in?
170 is nothing on the car overall if you have kept it up
Super Moderator fsttyms1 is well over 400kmiles on his 00 now !!
(thats thru 5 auto trans then swapped CL-S motor and 6 speed manual in it at 200- and car still sees the road race track and daily driver!)

pretty impressive, and as far as ive seen and read, 164 is pretty much the highest mileage ive ever seen on an original b7wa* tl transmission.
im finding the doing rate to be 1400- 1600, if i pull it myself, and reinstall it myself.. and i called around, and installing it myself does not void a warantee or garantee from the shop, and as far as that does, im well capable of the job. just not the rebuild. not something i'd try without some training, haha, I also doubt a shop-installed wareentee job, for the ease of just doing it at the dealership. why pay so much, when you can just have it done. At tri city, in rochester nh, just outside of where i live.. when i have the problems with d5, and was under warantee, they said they had not had any in, for that same reason. But they flooded in after the coverage ran out on all those tl-s models that didnt have the work done. and i know i misspell warantee, not worried about it.
