Zaino on ABP

1) Washed with some Mother's Cali Gold (left car wet).
2) Used Pinnacle Clay (1/3 of a bar) and Lube.
3) Washed again with Mother's and dried the car.
4) Used Pinnacle Paint Cleaning Lotion with a white polishing pad (7.5" LC) and the Porter Cable 7424 (3 1/2 - 5)
Buffed with MicroFiber Towels
Took a break.
Did a few more spots where it needed it. I had some light water spots on the hood so I had to make a few passes over it before they were gone.

6) Washed with some Dawn and then followed with Z7.
Dry, dry, dry.
7) Used Z5/ZFX (old batch) with black finishing pad (7.5" LC) and PC (3 1/2 - 4).
Took a break.
Buff, buff, buff. Wow, I thought I was good at thin coats. The PC made it thinner!
8) Used Z2/ZFX (yes, old batch) with black finishing pad (7.5" LC) and PC (3 1/2 - 4).
Took a break. Washed license plate (poor bugs).
Buff, buff, buff....hey my arm hairs are rising !!
9) Used Z2/ZFX (yes, old batch) with black finishing pad (7.5" LC) and PC (3 1/2 - 4).
Buff, buff, buff.
.....Of course I Z6'd between coats, what are you talking about ?!?!?
No carnuba topper just yet...gotta lay down some more Zzzzzz.
Comments ? Snickers ? Flames ?....

Am I wrong for not wanting to do all that work for my paint?

But your car does look VERY good.

Re: Zaino on ABP

Looking good my man. Wait until you try the new and improved z5. And the question about why would someone take all this time to do the car, just try zaino yourself and you will be hooked. Plus, the maintenance is no big deal at all. Just clay once or twice a year and maintain with z2/z5 and z6. you don't really need to use a PC by the way, but it's your choice.

PS - car looks very good, but it needs a drop like a biatch!

Thanks Guyz !

About 6 hours this past Sunday and 4 hours the Sunday before.
Am I wrong for not wanting to do all that work for my paint?
I don't think it's wrong, that's just my thing. Lots of people here do mods like crazy, I'm still bone stock, so I guess whatever you like. The important thing here is that we all love our TLs.
Wait until you try the new and improved z5.
Wow !! Another vote for the New batch of Zaino....I keep hearing great things about it. Problem is I have a lot of the old batch still hanging around.
Yes, maintenance is extremely easy after a car has been zaino'd. Regular washing and QDing goes so much faster.
PS - car looks very good, but it needs a drop like a biatch!
LMAO....you think !?!?! I keep asking my friend with his 11 year old Integra if I should drop it (his is dropped 2"), he said to leave it, not worth the headache. Problem is it just doesn't look right when it's stock.
nice work...take a picture in the sun so we can experience the real shine
Will try to do so with a better camera than my wimpy 2.1 mp.......hopefully after 6 or 9 more coats.

Car looks great!! I agree take a picture in the sun to see the real shine so we can see how good it looks!!

Any of you people know, what is the best way to prevent that hard tar from sticking to the bottom of your car. Right now, when it does stick I use Mothers Polish to remove it, but its still a pain, I would like to know if any of the Zaino products would prevent it from sticking to the car or even if it does, would it come off by just washing and not having to rub in the polish?

When you say the "bottom of your car", what do you mean ? Do you mean the underside or the lower portions, like the lower doors, bumper, etc. ? As far as the underside, it's just a PITA to keep that up. Otherwise the lower areas of the car (bumpers, lower doors) will be a lot easier to clean/maintain if Zaino is on it.

Thanx again people ! Got rained out this weekend, so I didn't get to put anymore coats on.
The New Zaino has only been out for maybe a month or two now. So depends on when you ordered. If you want to be sure, I guess call Sal.

A question if I might. What do you mean by no "No carnuba topper just yet". Are you going to put a coat of carnuba wax over the zaino?

My understanding is that wax will not bond to Zaino or any other polymer type polish.

After layers of Zaino, people put a carnuba over it to add some depth and "wettness". Zaino gives the reflectivity, but doesn't have the "warmth" of a carnuba. A common carnuba to top Zaino with is S100 (or P21S). S100 can be picked up at a Harley dealership for like $15 or so.
I've heard that carnubas can "eat" through zaino, so I'm hesitant at this stage. They usually contain oils in the wax which "eats" away, shortening the life of the Zaino.
If you have any oils or waxes "under" Zaino, you will have some bonding issues.

r10apple-

I'm pretty sure that's in the street. There's a cement curb behind the back of the car and also looks like like there's a sidewalk back there just above it. But who am I .......
