This website calims 20hp for $8.50 thru a simple 'resistor mod' that changes A/F ratios and timing to increase your engines performance output. "This do-it-yourself kit takes no knowledge of cars and is extremely easy to install. This is a resistor not an ecu chip that will plug into your AIT (air intake temp) sensor and modify your Air/Fuel ratio and slightly change your engine timing to run stronger and with increased power."

Anyone know if this this thing actually works? I was thinking about buying one just to see what happens. But I don't want to damage my car either. Let me know what you think.

My guess is that it causes the AIT to see a different temp causing the ECU to compensate. I have seen these on Ebay selling for as little as .99. I wouldn't try one unless you have access to a wideband O2. My guess is they make the car run lean and or add a little timing.

I agree, something like this that is $8.50 could cause a lean condition, which in turn, might cost you $$$$ in engine repair bills later on down the road. I would suggest skipping it and saving up for a better mod, that is proven and sound.
