would you consider this trade?
Hey fellas,
I have a 2000 TL-P and an old friend of mine has a '95 Impala SS in really good condition. In all honesty, do you think I should trade my TL-P for the SS?? I'd appreciate some input because this is racking my brain!!! Thanx

Id say that the SS isnt faster than a TL. Its got a shit version of the LT1 with iron heads and crappy optispark ignition. Unless you're from the south and all up on that donk shit I'd say stay with the TL. Plus its a 14 year old american car... enough said.
A quick google search put the ss between 6.9 and 7.3 on the 0-60 so its pretty much on par with the TL, but im sure on the highway even a TL-P will outgun it.

Actually, all the LT-1 engines come with the opti ignition. Ive got a buddy spinning his engine to 7800 rpm with the stock opti (95 z-28)and its working fine.
Theofficialmp3: The Impala is a lead sled, so to speak. Im sure that you would be surprised if the two cars were ever lined up. Im guessing that the TL would be much quicker off the line (due to the weight difference) and the Impala may have some luck running it down top end (horsepower).
My input? stick with the TL. Much nicer car. A lot more economical to boot.

Id personally go for the SS Impala. It will be a classic soon and the modability shits on the TLP. Who cares if it eats gas. Gas is $1.65/gal nowadays LOL but that could change soon.
It really depends on what your pref is. The Impala will def attract more cops and people tend to think of it as a "thug" car but my neighbor has one with a bunch of corvette parts in it and it runs low 12 high 11s effortlessly. Not to mention its in mint condition. The value of those cars are going up while the TLP's is going down. My neighbor is selling his for $25K.
Now if he were tryng to trade for my 03 TLS Id say no LOL. Big diff there.
It basically comes down to to you want a large heavy v8 car that you could mod into a extremely fast car or do you want a 2nd year 2nd gen TL that isnt a Type S and the mods you can do to it wont do much.
If you arent a modder Id say keep the TL

THATS CRAZY TO EVEN CONSIDER THAT! Impala ss was okay when it first came out now its ghetto! Way too big and heavy, and i dont know off the top of my head but about the same power as the tl-s. THEY CANT TURN.
-bad handling
-sucks gas
-heavy
-fugly
-ghetto
-tl is definitly faster
-old american car, not good.
DO NOT BUY IT.

2003 TL-p
hey i think 2gen TL would start going up in value as long as acura keeps the 09 TL's style for like the next 5 years. not many people want the 09 - they want the older acuras. as for the ss - screw that keep ur TL.
i agree with the david-s above me 100%
