would this rub????

would 18 X 7.5 rims with a +40 offset wrapped with 215/35/18 rub?

WTF???

With that setup rubbing would be the least of your worries.

215/35/18 is a laughable tire size for a TL.

With a 35 profile tire on an 18 inch rim, you would need 275/35/18 to match rolling diameter.

you will rub. and yeah I think 215/35/18 tires is not good. 225/45/18 is ideal or 235/40/18 but you will definitely rub with either one. If you really want 215 then you should probably at least have 45 (215/45/18).
