Hey forum, I'm usually on the CL side of town since I've owned a 03 CLS6 for about 2 years now. My question is if it's worth buying a TL considering all the tranny issues? I'm looking for some on craiglist, but they're still pretty expensive, I saw an 03 going for 14K!

I like these cars so much that I'll consider getting a TL and if the transmission ever decides to go kaput on me I'll replace it. Reason is, I know some people here have swapped the transmission with new TL or Odyssey transmissions and as for as I know, they haven't had trouble since.

Any input would be great. What price would you pay for a 02/03 TL with about lets say, 100k? Also, is there anyplace where I can find TLs with a broken transmission? How much would that go for?

Check Craigslist I see them on their all the time for at least half that price. More than likely it will have transmission problems eventually but like you said you can swap it out for a newer tl, accord, or oddessy transmission. Also you'll probably need to get the 100 k service done which will probably cost another 1000 maybe more

I love my TL, I have an 01. I like the 02/03 even more. If you keep lookin you will find a deal. I got my 01 with 68k miles on it for 9 grand w 2 year/24k miles warranty earlier this year. There's still deals to be had if you look. Plus if you wanted to make it like a bigger version of your CL you could swap the drive train over and make it a TL-S6. Lots of people have done this.

well the cl has the same trans problem so you'll probably seen all the threads about on that side, if your going to sell the cls6sp i would say no, if your keeping both then why not

Holy bananas batman thats alot for a 01 i baught my 99 with 47k for 2600 just needed a new battery. You can find them alot cheaper just be patient and look for the deals and belive me just school yourself on the problems that they have so that you knw what to look for and good luck
