Won't using a clay bar scratch your paint?
We used a clay bar on my friends Silver Civic and it turned out great! I was thinking of using it on my car but I dont know if it will put little scratches in my paint. Does it?
Thanks

Claying your TL will turn out great. The only thing you have to remember when claying is to keep the area you are claying very well lubed. If you go with Zaino there are some great tips on the site. www.zainobros.com
Good luck.

Here's some tips for using clay:
1. Don't work on the car directly under the sun. Do it when the surface is cool.
2. Keep the area you're working on lubricated. This minimizes streaking.
3. Stretch and fold the clay often. By doing this it keeps the clay surface contaminant free.
4. If you drop the clay on the floor, throw it away and tear off a new piece from the clay bar.
If you have a new car (less than 3 months old) it isn't necessary to clay the car. You can tell whether you're car needs it if the finish is rough to the touch. Also, the clay won't remove the fine scratches on your finish, you could only get that out by polishing.

Yeah, as suggested by a few pro's I use Meguiars Quick Detailer (professional) along with a blue clay bar called "granite". Works great.... I did the entire TL to get rid of rail dust, you'd never believe how much of that rust (rail dust) was caked on the exterior from rail transport to California. Every time I wash my car I do that to the front bumper and the leading edge of the hood then re-wax that area because the clay will remove the wax. I must say though, if there's anything on the paint it'll take it off safely so long as you use suffecient lubricant. BTW, don't be afraid to put a little pressure, otherwise when you wax the car, you'll literally be able to feel what was left behind.
