Won't Sart/ Hard Start
I have a 99' with 162,000 miles. I have been having trouble the last few days getting the car to start. It will turn over repeatedly but not catch. I have to try and start it several times before it will take. I had someone jump start the car as a last resort on Monday and it started right away so I thought I had a battery issue. I replaced the battery yesterday but had the same problem again today. It's not an alternator problem because I drive an hour to and from work and the battery is always recharged when I try to start it again.
I've seen a few posts on this issue but no one ever comes back and tells how they resolved the problem.
Again, the car will turn over forever. Usually I have to open the hood, then it starts. It's like my car has a voodo monster and I have to perform the ritual. --Try to start car. Cuss. Try again. Open the hood and stare. Get back in the car and it starts right away. The starting gods are happy.
I also have been having a P0420 code which is connected to the CAT, I think? I wonder if these two issues are related.
I don't get it. Please let me know if you have dealt with this problem and what you did to fix it. Thanks.

The starting issue could be a few things. Most commonly its the Imobilizer system. How many keys do you have on your key chain? Try using Just the acura key and see if that works

5 keys, the TL key sits right next to my Sequoia key. Maybe they don't like each other. We have had a lot of wind here the past week, a lot of dust. Maybe something to do with the static. I'll give it a try.

the key needs to be next to the imobilizer to work properly. If there are too many keys or a key witha similar chip in it it wont allow the car to start. There have been many members who have solved hard starting by removing or moving some of the keys on the keychain
