I have the same problem, my hid's seem lighter also. My situation is someone different though, mine were just stolen & the replacements were put in. The replacements don't seem as bright or blue as the older ones. I'm wondering if they seemed darker (brighter) because of dirt??

There is nothing wrong with your HIDs. It is very blue for the first 15-20 secs before warming up. Once it warms up, it will turn into a whitish light. Our HIDs are only ~4100K and so it will look more white. If you want a bluer look, buy the 6000K HIDs that a few members here have.

I am not 100% but I have heard that HID's get bluer with age, which would explain why the replacements are whiter.

I am pretty sure it has to do with the voltage from the ballast. My friend has HID's on his 2001 Grand Prix GTP, He used a aftermarket kit. Anyway he can adjust the voltage and that totally changes the color. So if your voltage is low, it will look blue-er.. I don't now if there is a way to adjust it on the TLs, but I think it looks mucho better White rather than blue. You are putting out more light with the white, and the blue, well looks like the old school HIDs like the ones on Lincoln Mark Viii's. That's my 2 cents anyway..

And yes they will be blue-est, when you first fire them up. I think they take about 10 minutes to get to their true color. The high beam HID's have to heat up faster, at least that's what I have heard..

I also wouldn't be surprised if they do blue up with age.

Mine turned bluish over time 1 year 6 months. It is sorta bluer that the brand new TL. so my guess is that give it time and it will turn bluer. Consequently, I wonder what happens when out TL turns 7 yrs old. Dark Blue lights ?

Ha ha.. that's what i heard too and also the case myself... it takes some time to "run in" some ppl say...
Plus, another possibility, the bulbs u get happen to be not that bright... Honda's quality is not as good as we thought.. some of their bulbs are actually brighter and bluer... mine were too yellow so I requested a replacement and because my car was still brand new at that time, they let me do it... we changed for like 4 or 5 bulbs and finally found something acceptable...

Unless you have two car lined up and compare side by side, it's hard to tell..especially when you're in your car and look at the other via your rear view mirror etc....appearance in this case is deceptive since the TL's mirror is slightly tinted giving the reflection the little more darker/blueish appearance.

Now that I think about it, my TL's HIDs are bluer than a few members TL (I did line them up next to each other) since I have a 99 and they all have 00+.:p

Hid's get bluer the more they are used..fact
Lower voltage will make the Hid bluer but.... You are keeping them in a warmup stage (like first 10 sec on regulare HID) and bulbs will not last long and you have less light.

Want your HID's bluer.......... Drive with them on all the time or get Ultinons

Wow what a bunch of mis information

1.Can't adjust TL HID. some aftermarket kits you can, but bulbs don't last long and sometimes ballast blow up!

2. ten minutes to warm up more like 10 seconds

3. High beam HIDS??????????? not on a TL

Ahhhh your taking me out of context..

>Wow what a bunch of mis information

>1.Can't adjust TL HID. some aftermarket kits you can, but >bulbs .don't last long and sometimes ballast blow up!

I didn't say you could adjust them on a TL, I said on my friends aftermarket package you could, I've watched him change this adjuster and you can see the color change.

>2. ten minutes to warm up more like 10 seconds
Okay my bad.. They automotive ones range from 1 sec to 15
seconds. I figured the color brightned with heat over time
as most flourescent bulbs do, it's just not the case with our
automotive HIDs.

>3. High beam HIDS??????????? not on a TL

Wasn't implying that the TL has HID High Beams. I know that
they don't. sorry, I didn't make it more clear. I just heard that the high beam's have to be instantly bright for DOT regulations. I suppose so you can flash your high beams?

the TL's headlights always look whiter when viewing from inside the car loking out, and bluer when you are looking at the TL head on. also, the '02's headlights are different from the '99-'01 headlights so they are not as blue.
