windshield wiper problem..

Anyone on here has a problem with their wiper. My wiper are really loud and wiping in the wrong place. Everytime i turn on my wiper. It the blades wipes all the way out of the windsheild somtime getting close to hitting my side mirrors and when it comes back down. It sounds like someone is pounding on the car. Anyone has any ideas of what it is? I'm out of warranty so i cant take it back to the dealer for a check up. Thanks..

How the heck can the wiper hit your side mirror???? Do you mean the wiper goes over the A column? If it is the whole wiper mechanism needs to be checked out. Either something is bent or off.

What yr & how many miles? Do u have a good relationship with your local Acura service dept? Sometimes they will help out on certain items.
Does the wiper go all the way down when off? Maybe its just an adjustment?

Hi, wiggingboy

Writing from Japan.
I had the similar problem with my TL 2002.
Although the wiping area of my wiper was correct, it was really loud when I used wiper.

I have taken my TL to my dealer and they have done the following things.

1. Replaced wiper blade assembly (metal part including rubber blade) as only rubber blade is not a warranty item.
- Nothing improved.

2. Replaced wiper arm as I have told them that the pressure of the blade against windshield was too strong.
- Nothing improved.

3. Adjusted the angle of wiper blade against windshield.
- Nothing improved.

There was nothing more for the dealer to do.
However it was obvious that my previous Accord had better wiper.

Then I have tried to change wiper with OEM ones.

1. PIAA wiper blade assembly
- More silent but the top of the blade didn't fit the curve of the windshield.

2. NWB wiper blade assembly
- Nothing improved. Also the top of the blade didn't fit the curve of the windshield.

Finally I have found a wiper blade assembly that is made by CHAMPION.
This one fitted my TL very well and it is now very silent when I use wiper and it wipes the windshield very well.
I think that the pressure of wiper blade against windshield was not appropriate with our original wiper.

I have used 650mm long blade for all of the experiments mentioned above.

Hope this information helps you even a little.

Thanks alot amfjabe. I'm going to try and change the blades first. If that dont work then i'm gonna try and check on the motor. I have a 12yrs old accord and it wipes better then my TL. Man i have so many lil annoying problems with this car.

I have got this new one in January.
Problems I have encountered for these 10 months are as follows.

1. Squeaking noise from seatbelt buckles of both front seats.
Dealer replaced both seatbelt buckles and now it is OK.

2. Linkage between driver's door handle and door lock knob (the vertical shaft that is down when door is locked and up when locked) was broken.
Dealer replaced it and it is OK.

3. Right rear door didn't close well. Needed to shut it down strongly.
Dealer adjusted the hinge and it is OK.

4. Rattles from somewhere rear compartment.
Dealer tried to find it out for two weeks and finally they found that the attachment of DVD navigation to trunk room caused the rattle.
They have fixed it and now it is OK.

5. Squeaking noise from backrest of the passenger seat.
Dealer replaced the springs there and it is OK.
Same noise is started to be heard from driver's seat,
Maybe I have to visit the dealer again.

6. Windshield wiper was noisy and didn't wipe the windshield well.
Dealer replaced wiper blade assembly and wiper arm also, but it didn't help.
Purchased CHAMPION wiper blade assembly and it was good.

However I still like this car.

Damn those japanese dealers are pretty good heh? They seem to fix almost all ur problems. My dealer can't even wash my car and clean it rite.

Damn amfjabe, i have all the same extact problems with my car. everything you listed i have. I have gotten most of fixed except the door not closing tight. I took it to the dealer while still under warranty and they said it was from hangin on the door and making it sag down so they wouldnt fix it. Anyway you can tell me how the fix the hinge so i can do it myself? Thanks alot for the info.
