You can get around 30 wheel HP by adding headers, but you can't get 30 wheel HP by reading a book about headers. The only way is to do the mod!!

Hey I figured since the NAV is getting a lot of flack, why do you guys spend money on wood shift knobs, under body kits, spoilers, engine mods? Got a big ego to feed?

Usually not.... if you add headers, springs, exhaust, etc., it will not void the warranty. The deal is if something goes wrong with your car, the dealer would have to prove, without a doubt, that the modification caused that problem. Otherwise, they have to fix it. Trust me, that won't happen. On top of that, the company that makes most of the mods for these cars, CompTech, are sold and installed at some Acura dealers!!!

Three Wheelin'
My mods were installed by Acura of Bellevue before I even picked up the car. Comptech headers, intake filter and springs. All covered under warrenty.
Looks sportier, handles better, accelerates faster.

The act of adding the mod by itself does not void the warranty. But if American Honda can prove that the mod contributed to the failure, then you may be out of luck when you have to claim. For example, if you add a header, it may not affect the warranty if your alternator failed. But it may affect the warranty on the Torque Converter because they could say the TC was not built to handle the 30hp increase.
But getting back to the original question about why spend money on mods if you're not going to spend in on the Nav.... To each his/her own. We each value things differently - my wife loves the feeling of comfort she gets knowing that she cannot get lost with the GPS. I on the other hand, given the same budget may prefer performance enhancing mods. Someone else may prefer cosmetic improvements. No one is right - don't let what others think sway you - do what you feel best with.
