Why so Many Rattles in New TL-S

I'm not saying that these cars are poorly built, but how come there are so many known issues with mechanical, and build quality on these cars. I'm a little reluctant about buying another TL-S. Eventhough I just bought my new 2003, I don't know if I would buy another one because of all the problems we have with them. I mean collectively on this forum, there must be liked 100 different possible rattling noises that we know about....is this normal, or just lazy workmanship? I had my 98TL for over 5 years, and never once did one rattle come out of it. i don't expect that in every car, but surely not like 5 rattles everytime I bring the car into the dealer....I'm getting sick of this crap.

Not a problem here...the sunroof panel does rattle when it's open, but not too noticeable...plus it's a moving non-mechanical part....it'll probably rattle. I drive on some of the worst streets I've ever seen everyday..I'm talking potholes everywhere....my car doesn't rattle. Everyone who rides in it says it's quiet and comfy....

My TL S Type has 4000 miles on it and the headliner rattles, already brought the car in for the sunroof rattle (it was fixed), the seat belt fastener rattles (extremely annoying) and the driver's side door latch creaks when you pull it to open the door. I too thought these cars were better made. I am bringing it in on Tuesday to try to fix these problems.

Interior noises come with the name Acura. I bought my 2003 Acura TL-Type S in January and has noises after ONLY 2 weeks of purchase. First it was a problem with a seat belt, then the seats... even the Acura worker admitted to me that although Acuras are good reliable cars, their defect is the incredible amount of interior noise. You think the TL has too much noise... wait till you drive an MDX.

I must admit that I've got a sunroof rattle when it's closed but have the interior "cover" open (so light can come in). I've also got a noise coming from the center storage (arm rest) area. I really need someone else to drive the car so I can determine exactly where it is coming from. It's kinda hard to look while I'm driving... :wow:

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing.

Had the seat belt rattle and sun roof rattle. Dealer fixed it at my first service under warranty - hasn't acted up since. What is the big deal?

My sun roof use to drive me NUTS. Untill I used Back to Black(made by MOTHERS) on the rubber seal, I only used it once and ever since not a peep! Great stuff, it`s like aromer-all use to be a long time ago, before they water it down, but it is hard to find.

The big deal is I have a life and it's a pain in the a$$ for me to go to the dealership and leave my car there for 4+ hours, especially during the week. I live in Los Angeles and that is what will happen even if it is a "quick fix." I only have 3000 miles on my car so, to me, this shouldn't be happening so soon.

I have a rattling coming from the part where the back of the seat, and the part you sit on meet.

it's this part of the seat _/ <-- that would be the part where the underscore and the backslash meet. It seems that's where thew noise is coming from. When adjust the back height of the seat, the noise goes away temporarily, but then comes back.

At one point I assumed it was the seatbelt, so i adjusted it, and it went away for like 2 weeks then came back...now if I adjust the seatbelt, it does nothing....

any ideas guys?

you can fix this yourself in 5 minutes by spraying WD-40 inside the seatbelt buckle.

I have rattle from my sunroof if the shade is pulled back and some on the rear passenger window. My seatbelt buckle squeeks also, but other than that, no mechanical issues or any other problems.

Do you guys think its worth takin it to the dealers and will they actually be able to fix it or jus make it worse????

OH btw, mine is bout 11 months old now.

your sunroof rattle is a known issue and fixed by applying Squeak Reduction Tape around moonroof opening. There is a service bulletin about this.

That's what I do. I have my radio blasting everytime I drive. The rattles are freaking horrible. Sooo freaking annoying. After 2 years of owning this car it's gotten worse. Never took care of the first rattle I heard. Now they're coming from everywhere. My beater has less squeaks...oh well.

I have 6k miles on my 03 TL-S, and I have no rattles so far. However, my transmission is dying, my brake rotors are warped, and the volume control on the steering wheel has "issues".

You know, I think I would gladly trade my problems for a nice rattle or two.

TL Rattles

Tl rattles because it is built in the USA. Shoddy workmanship. Although the tranny is another story. I have a list of things wrong with my car. i can go on and on dude. I wish the legend was back out.
