Why perforated leather seats on TL-S?
Anybody know why the TL-S comes with perforated leather instead of regular (non-perf) leather, i.e., is there an advantage to having perforated leather seats on the TL-S?

This is the offical response from Acura:
PERFORATED LEATHER >
To enhance the sporty look and feel of the cockpit, black perforated leather is standard on the TL Type S. Additionally, the perforated leather provides adequate ventilation and fits the seat cushions more snugly. Matching perforated leather on the steering wheel and on the Type S-badged shift knob promotes a firmer, dryer grip. Like the hum of the exhaust note, the TL Type S interior inspires the appropriate combination of opulence and excitement

This is the offical description about the perforated leather:
These perforations allow air to flow through in enough volume to keep you cool on the hottest days. By perforating the leather the way we do the surface area of the leather fibers is increased. By exposing more of these fibers to the air more moisture is wicked away and into the atmosphere, cooling you by convection.

Okay, I guess I can see how perforated leather seats offer better leather ventilation and fit, but IMHO I would gladly trade perforated seats for sportier seats with better side support which would be much more befitting a car like the TL-S.

On the other hand, the perf leather does make the seat more comfortable, although it still heats up a little in the sun. I can't imagine how much hotter the non-perf leather seats can be!

Not a Blowhole
Fools! You believe those press releases?
I have a friend who is an attorney, and he swears that the real reason is that there are so many TL's sold in California, and a Del Taco on every street corner, that the attorneys were afraid that enough methane might be produced to cause an explosion, putting the corporate coffers at risk for a whiney class action suit!
Witht he peforated seats, the gas is distributed more widely, and the natural convection and Brownian movement allow it to be whisked to the back seat, where the evacuation vents will vent it to the atmosphere.
Of course, some tree-huggers will start whining about the Global Warming THEORY!.
