Why is the gas cap different?
The gas cap on my 02 type s is grey....On my Dads 03 the gas cap is black...It is the same size and shape and whatnot, but why are they different? If it makes any difference, on our 2000 Odyssey it is black as well...
I have been wondering this for a while, because I doubt they give a different cap to a type-s?
Any ideas?

oem one from the factory vs replacement honda one
, also mine is black and an 03
also a different color quite often means that the part also has been updated/redesigned cause they saw an issue with it
btw the different colors happen quite often on electrical components, so it is easy to tell if it has been updated and such

hell my boss's 88 mazda has a nissan gas cap on it, works perfectly fine too
all that was just a guess.
I forgot mine at the gas station when I first started driving. I had the Check Engine Light come on too. Went to autozone and got a replacement. It was black though.

you guys losing all these gas caps, should try a newer AUDI
; f***ing $45 for a new cap, and no you can't get it aftermarket, cause the cap has a magnet inside it that a sensor on the car picks up, otherwise it will throw a CEL for a missing cap, even though there is one on there and it's tight (and only way to turn off that light is with a FACTORY SCAN TOOL, not an aftermarket tool, so dealer prices again
)
but you can disable the sensor reletively easily though (thank god)(but give that a few years though, and it won't be so easy), so you can use a aftermarket cap, with some modification/unplugging

Ive lived in NJ forever until 17 when I moved to NC. I had just got my first car when I moved to NC. I had to fill up the gas myself instead of having someone do it for me. Call me spoiled?
A month after I got my car, I left the gas cap it at the station and drove off with my gas lid open as well. I noticed it a mile down the road on my side mirrors and I already knew it was gone....forever

yeah, read sig, but also that is the reason fot the "sp?" after it, i knew the spelling of it was wrong, just did not know how to spell it correctly
and as said only if you are disabled, and you beep your horn at them to come out and such, but yeah they don't do it for perfectlly capable people
also the station HAS to have two attendents on duty for them to do it for you, and not just one (think safty, with one attentdent being able to call for help and such, if something happens to the other attendent)

Haha, I never realized your siggy.
Doesn't it put a red dotted underline under your in-correctly spelled words? All you have to do is right click the word and it spell checks it.
