Who's got the lowest VIN?
My TL-S has a stamped production date of April 01 and it's VIN ends with A012014. I've noticed that the A56932 portion of the VIN also varies. Can anyone tell me how the VIN breaks down into fields and what they indicate?
And BTW, who owns the lowest VIN???

Your last numbers indicate when your car was made. Looks like you got the 12,014 TL-S made. I got my car at the end of march so I'm somewhere in the high 1,000's (Don't remember the exact number off my head).

For what it's worth, the last 5 digits of the VIN number are in fact sequence numbers, but I don't believe that they're model-specific. (i.e. a VIN ending in A005000 would be the 5000'th TL made, period... not the 5000th TL-P or TL-S).

In the US, NADA sets the standards for all VINs and the last 6 digits are reserved for sequence identification (serial numbers). Serial numbers are in sequence for same family of cars only (all TLs for example). Although the NAV and non-NAV type S models have different digits 7-8 (68 for non-NAV and 69 for NAV), they roll off the assembly line together and both types are intermixed in the VIN sequence. Mine with NAV is in the 14000 range, so that means at least 14000 TLs models are out there somewhere, including all type-s, which I believe someone earlier had stated was about 25% of all TLs manufactured.
