I was told by KEY'S acura when I bought my car that we'd all get free upgrades when It comes out..and they still tell me that everytime I go. WTF!!!
So who here was told by there dealers that?

Does anyone know the 800 # to the main ACURA
company?
maybe we all can complain to acura saying that "this dealer told me that the upgrades are for free". but where is it.

A lot of people here and at the CL board were told the first couple of upgrades are free. Unfortunately, not a single one got it in writing, so there's really nothing you can do. If you had it in writing, then it would be honored, but without it, it's just heresay....

upgrades are not free, acura will update the discs every two years for 120 dollars, thats what the dealer told me ?

updates are every year and are right around $165 each.

I dont have Navi but i almost got one and the dealer told me that i would have to pay for the upgrade.
But.... he also told me that we couldnt play video on it, so i didnt get my car with nav.

I think this was for people that have the 99 TL with Nav. That Nav system has mapped regions & not the whole country. When they changed to DVD on the 2000 model that changed.

Dealer AND the financing guy told me free upgrades for the first year, but of course the bastards wouldn't put it in writing. Their excuse was "I've never seen it in writing, it's just a manufacturer policy".

Halfway through the "free year". Haven't tried yet.

I was told the first two upgrades are free of charge. Unfortunately I did not get that in writing and haven't request for an upgrade yet.

My dealer told me the same thing, but says that it is only free if they come out within the first year you buy the car. When i went in before my year was up they told me service department told me that was untrue and that i would have to pay for the dvd disc if i wanted the upgrade.

We should get a letter together with peoples names and dealer, possibly salesmen as well and send it off to acura to show some of the deceving practices they go through to get a sale. I mean i still would have bought the car regardless of the free update or not, but i was expecting to get the first one for free

I wonder why Acura doesn't display their Navi update policy on their website? That was one of the first things I wondered about and no-one could give me a straight answer.

One of the service ladies at my dealership mentioned that Acura has no plans to update the DVD's, and that the unit may have to be replaced to get the database updated (I think she was thinking of the old harddisk-based Navis). Quite amusing...
