if its only meant to smooth out the power band and kick vtec earlier.. than why not just stick with the pulleys.. UR pulleys gives you an increase throughout the whole powerband + gets you to higher rpms (VTEC) alot quicker...

because you can tune the powerband accordingly

That dyno is not SAE corrected. There is a math formula to solve all of that somewhere.

^^yes

VAFC II corrects every 250rpm i believe and IT DOES gain hp not by giving it power, but by allowing the engine to develop more power up top. I talked about this when i got my vafc wideband tuned. Notice how our engines keep making power after redline (dyno chart from member a while back).

it definetly helps cut times and the ONLY drawback is fuel consumption IF you get into vtec range a lot....mine's set at 4000rpm and i barely ever get to 3500

Very Tall Engine Cooling

Yes, I have seen a dynoturbine, and have seen car's dynoed before, but was not aware that w/o a vafc on our cars, we could tune our ECU for better performance. I was under the impression that the dyno will only messure how much whp and torque a vehicle produces.

Thanks!

No way. What kind of a dynomometer was this? I don't think the shop accounted for the difference factor among dynos. For instance, my buddy put down 360 rwhp on his SR20DET-swapped 240SX on an axle dyno (forgot the brand). On a Dynojet, it put down 380 rwhp.
Whay are u saying no way? On average the Unichip only yielded about 5 hp, the K&N filter might be 1 hp, and headers approx. 20 hp. Thats about 25.

you were right, you need a programmer or something to tune the computer...just getting on a dyno wont do anything but tell you what you can work with. Now when you add mods (I,H,E,or P) the ECU will reprogram itself to get the most out of the mods, but with the VAFC you can fine tune the whole powerband to give good results - if done properly

That was exactly my point! thanks for the clarification! You see I have all those modes already (CT Headers, CT icebox, iridiums, tb spacer, custom b-pipe) with the exception of the VAFC, is it really worth it? Considering the potential lack of fuel efficency $$$ by adding this comoponent.

Thanks!

The largest gains I have seen with a properly tuned vafc were about 12hp/15tq. This was done on a car with i/h/e. That being said, it was on the rollers for over 3 hours and at $150 an hour for the tuning on top of the $$$ paid for the vafc itself, was quite a costly enterprise. It did lay just short of 230hp on a warm day in Florida when it was done. Hope that helps...
