Who has been able to negotiate on the buy-out price of their leased TL?
My lease is running up pretty soon, and I'm thinking about buying it out. I got the information packet from Honda and it said that the buy-out price is non-negotiable.
But I thought I remembered reading about someone who was able to negotiate on the price. So I was wondering if any of you has done that, and how. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
P.S. If I don't buy it out, then it'll be a part-out festival.

I would imagine it depends on your car and mileage. I work for a large lease finance company and handle loss prevention and our portfolio management. I would contact Acura CS or whatever leasing company is holding the lease and offer them a settlement for your car. In some cases for example if you are far over your mileage restrictions and have already paid them a total payout of say 20k or higher and their residual is say 20k you should be able to talk them down quite a but say 5k. That is if it is a leasing company that sees the car as more of a burden to resell then say Acura. If it is an Acura lease then you probably won't have as much room, even if you have say 50k on your car and mileage restriction was at 36k and KBB is currently 17-18k but your residual is 20k+ because Acura will hit you with all sorts of penalty fees and have a higher resale result in the end and have a very good chance of making their 20+K back while the independant leasing company will probably resell the car for thousands less than Acura and quite possibly could have lesser penalties. It is all dependant on your situation(i.e. cars condition, mileage, etc.) and who you are delaing with(i.e. Acura or independant leasing company).

Yep. i did. It was originally designed to be my "fun" family car. My work car got totaled and i wasnt able to get a new one and well the TL became the "fun" work car

My buyout date is coming up next month, I owe about 8k. Hey Rob, keep me in mind for the rotora BBK if you dont purchase the tl, although I hope you do. It seems alot of people are getting rid of their acuras on the board.
