Where do you service your Acura
Just picked up an Acura 3.2TL with 25k miles. I'm sending it in to check the transmission and also replace some rotors since it's covered under warranty.
I was told that at 30K miles i'm due for a large service costing well over 600 dollars. The air filter and transmission fluid needs to be changed. And they will also inspect brakes, hinges, belts, rotate, balance and align wheels.
Do you guys actually pay to get this stuff done? With my previous Hondas, i normally take it to like a Goodyear service center since it's always 1/2 the price. What do you do?

30k service for this car is just a bunch of inspections which a mechanic never throughly checks..DIY -air filter (two screws) -tranny flush at the dealer -oil change -top off all fulids -coolant flush -bleed your brakes
other than that, at 30K your car is still is great shape...just my opinions.

Four screws on the air filter! The 30K main. should not be $600, I would suggest a few things:
1) change your own air filter - a DIY
2) get the transmission looked at - change the fluid if you really need it. (@ Acura) $40 - to $50
3) get the oil-jet kit installed if not already on (@ Acura) - no charge
4) get your oil and tires done (@ the Acura) - $24.99 plus taxes oil and $10-$20 for the tires (depends on the dealer)
5) the next maintance you should be all set to take it to GoodYear or where ever it is you want to take it.
The best thing for you to have is piece of mind, the first check-up with give that to you at the Acura Dealership - unless there are one of the ones on the "bad-list".
Before you drop your car off - do a walk around with the agent, make sure you point out an issues with the car, prior to them driving it to the back. Get him to sign a paper indicting an prior damage/straches etc...
Good Luck and Welcome to the board.

Another suggestion. Have them price everything (except the inspections) separately. They will do the inspections anyways since it is still under warranty. Just give them a list of what you want done - oil change, tranny drain/fill, etc. I bet the price is less than half of what you were quoted originally.

if ur doing everything urself, might as well get a K&N filter, that way it's one less thing to do at the recommended intervals. all u need to do is clean it with the K&N cleaner that way u never replace the filter. Just an idea. Should notice a tad bit better performance with gas milage also.
