I don't think it's painted, but yes, it is a bright silver..

Chrome will pit and flake in a few years, no matter how meticulously (sp?) you take care of them. Your rims will then look like hell.

Get polished if you can, will look sharp and catch the eye like chrome, but a clear coat will protect them for many more years.

Post Wheel finish Pros and cons.

I am concidering getting 17 inch wheels by BBS and I can get them in silver, polished or chrome. Any ideas or comments. Hey Shooftin'TL Do you have polished BBS on one of your cars? If so what does it look like.

I have chrome BBS on my black TL and like NSX4DR said, you get what you pay for. Cheap chrome wheels will pit and flake off after a while due to thin chrome plating and/or surface contaminents on the wheel before dipping. BBS is one of a handful of high quality wheel mfg'ers so you shouldn't have troubles. The finished quality usually depends on the cleanliness of the chroming process and the thickness of the chrome (read: multiple dippings).

Lets see a pic of your chrome BBS on a Black TL so I can get an idea of what it will look like on mine.

Our 84 Mercedes 300 TD-T used to have chrome wheels. They did look beautiful for many years, but remember, that chrome is a brittle metal, and wheels are a harsh environment. They are subjected to a lot of heat, and the chrome plating stretches and shrinks a little each time the car is driven. Brake dust is also damaging to the chrome plating, but even if you were to religiously wash the wheels every week, even the most expensive chromed wheels money can buy will fail sooner than painted wheel would. Ask any wheel shop, they will tell you the same thing.

I had a set of painted MOMO R1s and after 3 years the clear coat turned yellow due to heat from the brakes, so you're gonna get problems no matter what.

I think your case is an exception, rather than the rule. I would hope that MOMO would have offered some kind of warranty for a premature failure of the clearcoat! Otherwise I wouldn't buy a MOMO product again.

does anyone know a place to order custom painted wheels. I would love the foose speedster 19 inchers with the 5 spokes painted to match my pearl 04 TL and the crome lip left. The car would become an instant looker. I already did a small sound system, 2 alipne 10'' type R's and tinted the window to 20% just looking for the right wheels to finish it off, please list your ideas.......
