wheel defect?

i have my tlp since last april. while washing the car this weekend, i notice some sort of oxidation(or something) on all four wheels. it's right under the outside lip of the rim. has anyone gotten these oxidation spots? and only after 1.5 years?

Do you use any heavy-duty strong wheel cleaner on your wheels? That stuff can take off the clear coat that came on the wheel. If the clearcoat is gone it's open season for pitting, etc....

You shouldn't be using any wheel cleaner on your wheels if you have the stock ones. It's basically a clear coat that is on there and is now being ruined by your cleaner. You should use the same stuff you use to wash your car with (I'd suggest a seperate bucket and brush though). A good rule of thumb on this is that if you don't trust it on the finish of your car, then don't trust it on the wheels.......
