Wheel Bearing 2003 Tls
I was coming back from Binghamton (I live in LI, New York) and I was hearing a noise. At first I thought it was the wind and thought nothing of it. The next day i backed out of my driveway and I heard, clicking noises. When I put it in drive and I drive slowly 25-45mph, I hear noises on and off. At first I thought it was a belt issue. I took it to mechanic1, he test drove it, and suggested it could be a bearing issue. He was busy so he couldnt get it on a lift. So i went to another mechanic2 and he put it on the lift and came to the same conclusion. That my bearing was damaged. He quoted me 170$. He called me a littlewhile later and said that inside the bearing or whatever there is a part thats cracked, 'messed up' or whatever, and that its gonna be additional labor/time/part. I'm wondering how much he's trying to charge me now and what I should do about it. (I gave the car in at 4pm on Saturday, hes open till 630) He can't work on the car till monday, bc of that "part." Any ideas?

Clicking makes me automatically think HALF SHAFT
Hub assembly is the entire bearing casing and housing. He's hosing you if he says he's taking it all the way apart to fix it individually IMO. Ask him "if the bearing is bad, what are you replacing? is it the entire hub assembly? What is this 'other part'?" (Hub assembly comes as one solitary part).
