What's up with the heat in my TL???
Hey guys,
I just got my TL back from the dealer. Replaced the tranny and need a new left CV joint. Anyways here's my question.
For some reason, no matter what temperature my climate control is set to, the air that comes out is the same temperature. Whether I set it at 22 or 32, it still blows out hot air. Even with the temperature 18 (the coldest setting) and the a/c on, the air coming out is hardly cold...it's always HOT!!!
What the hell is wrong with it???
Keep in mind this is after the dealer had the car for 5 days....is there a possibility that they touched something and screwed it up??
Let me know...
Thanks

Maybe the thermostat that regulates the airflow got messed up. Remember it happening to a domestic car I once owned. Not an expensive part (C$75 or so) -- I think it'll be the labour costs that will jack the price up. Don't know where the part is on the TL ... maybe it got messed at the dealership? But it's a wear and tear part, so I doubt warranty will cover this one (if it is the problem).

Hm. could be that they didn't plug in one of the plugs in the back of the dash? But then again...they wouldn't be opening up the dash for a tranny replacement . Last time i did not plug in one of the plugs all the way and it came loose. I guess it was the thermostat, because the temp would not change.

who knows...maybe another thing wrong. I'm so sick of this car...I'm now looking forward to my lease expiring. Mark my words, this will be the LAST acura I buy.
I will definitely stick around on this forum, cause you guys are a great bunch, but unfortunately I'm not going to be loyal to acura's anymore. Wayyyy too many problems with them...
sorry guys...

look under the passenger side glove box above the ecu, there is a black box with a 5 or pin green connector, that little black box control the hot or cold air coming out the vents, is a box with electrical input and a metal rod moves when you change temperature on the dial

I drove the car pretty hard today, and so far I haven't noticed any difference in the shift points. I can still manage to redline when not in SS mode, which means they didn't reprogram it (I prefer it this way).
I know a lot of guys on this forum complained that they feel their car to be slower after the tranny replacement. So far I don't see any different....weird!

I just started having the same problem and just recently had my tranny replaced as well. I went out one night and it was cold so i turned the heat on to like 75 and it was blowing cold air....temp reading on the dash was normal though so i know its not the thermostat. I then cranked the heat up to 90 and then it worked and i lowered it back down to 75 and it continued to pump hot air......
Anyone else experience this? I know they have to drain the coolant when they do the tranny swap and i am wondering if that had anythign to do with it.

Had a problem simular to this, maybe not exactly the same but close. I noticed last summer that the AC did not seem to be working as well as it should but did not think too much of it, I live in Colcorado and the weather here is pretty mild in the summer. Anyway, this last winter I notice that the defrosters were not working and immediatly took it in. Turned out that the climate control module had went out. Got it fixed under the warrenty and have not had a problem since. Hope that this is not what your issue is but it is something to keep in mind.

Could very well be, the way that I figured out that there was an issue was when I tried to use the defroster in the winter. As a check, turn on your defroster and see if you get the hot air coming up on the windshield, if not, good possibility that you have a problem with the climate control unit.
Just for the record, this is the only problem that I have had with my 03 TL-S and it was taken care of by the dealer with no problems. I LOVE MY TL!!!

Check post #5. When you change the temp, the bowden cable connected to that box should move. I had the same problem and the module I ordered was DOA so I just took my original apart and reset all the pieces inside and put it back together. I looked like the lube for the gears had gotten on the contacts so the module didnt know where it was. Hard to explain but if you see it youll understand. BTW its easy to break when you take it apart so dont count on being able to put it back together, if that cable isnt moving make sure you can get another one before you take it apart.
