What's the history of the nav system?
Here's why I ask: My wife watches the show "Murder, She Wrote" (don't even ask me why). Well, she taped one yesterday and she was showing me a scene where they had an Acura in it with a NAV system. I couldn't tell what model it was - all I saw was the front of the car and the Acura logo, then they showed inside and you see a guy looking up something on a NAVI. It clearly said "Acura Navigation" below the screen.
Now, here'w what surprised me - the copyright on the show was 1996. If I had to guess, the car looked like an RL, but I didn't even know if those were around in '96, and I sure didn't know that nav systems were available back then.

My friend had one of those. It was a nice but overpriced car back then. The Nav system was just introduced, so it wasn't nearly as nice as ours. It used a hard drive, didn't have as much database info, and spoke in a really funky thick Japanese accent.
